This book and it's companion (Blind drills) are my favorite retriever training books for the intermediate to advanced retriever. The books include endless drills to improve your dog's performance. With all these different drills, each training session can be unique and such keeps the trainer and the dog from getting bored.

Further, I have read nearly every retriever training book out there, and I think that Mr. Spencer's writing style is bar none the best.

Great book on what Marks are for Retriever Training. It has clear examples of what makes up a mark, and how to set them up on land and water. Good book for the begining trainer.

This is a well written, understandable book. I understand and appreciate the author's humor.

This book will not tell you how to train your dog. This book will not give you a framework or flowchart for training.

This book is a valuable aid, because when you have a dog at different stages of training, you are looking for ideas on other things you can add to the training. This book supplies that. You will need to know where your dog is at in its training to use this book. That is were the work of Lardy or Graham is helpful.

I could never read it cover to cover. It is a reference book that gets opened weekly to look for ideas on what can be added for training.

So far, my boyfriend likes this book. He is using it to supplement his current training knowledge.
