It was supposed to be a simple task, but nothing ever is, and he certainly wasn’t counting on the electric lust that sizzles between them. Discovering he isn’t the only one after the cuff, Ze kidnaps Amber and they have to work together not only to stay alive, but to keep the cuff safe. And Zerachiel is no ordinary man—he’s a wizard who introduces Amber to an underground world of magic and mystery living on the streets of Chicago she thought she knew. Together they discover a whole new world of love and lust, as the sparks fly between them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't finish.... November 17, 2012

I really wanted to like this book. However the way the events unfolded was just too unrealistic. Now I LOVE paranormal books, so reading about instant attraction or even sex with a stranger is not new. But the heroine in this book goes from being kidnapped by some random stranger to being in love with said random stranger in all of 20 seconds (OK it was more like a few hours...but still). Then, even if by chance the main characters developed some deep bond over shared experiences or common interests, again, I can swallow that. But that never happened. They went from exchanging names to a public make-out session which went beyond just fondling, straight into anal sex then into 'I love you's'. Umm, WAIT. WHAT??!! Too much, too soon, with no discussion of developing feelings. About the storyline. The IDEA was GREAT. Putting it all together? Not so much. I skipped over a lot of the dialogue. It just got boring, especially when I felt nothing (but grossed out) for the two characters.

3.0 out of 5 stars quick easy read January 5, 2013

This was one of those insta-love books. I say because this went something like this. They bump into each other. He kidnaps her. She gets away. They talk about what was going on, they are on the run. They are hiding, they are having sex. They are trying to take the bracelet off to give it to its proper owner. They are having public sex. Confess love, fight the mercenaries, return the bracelet and lastly have dinner talk about their future and some restaurant oral sex. All in 24 maybe 48?hours. The end.

But with all that it was kinda charming and funny at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Retrieving Love Review April 29, 2014
This Urban Seduction short novel is a thrilling action packed and erotic read. The author has created a fascinating world of magic and captivating characters that draw the reader in and has them wanting more. The concept is certainly intriguing and has lots of possibilities and I was totally enchanted from the beginning and I can’t wait to read the next one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too chopy and unreal December 10, 2012

I really tried to make this story work as I thought the characters Amber and Se had great chemistry...even though it was a bit unrealistic. To go from kidnapping victim to lusting for the person who locked you in the trunk that fast?? All because of a bracelet she was wearing? And it is all somehow tied to the underground magical world of Chicago? I had a very hard time following this story or even trying to figure out who was doing what to whom.

Except for the THAT was clear throughout. But even that was contributing to the confusion. What brought on the lust? What is the situation? It felt that a sex scene was just thrown in to keep the reader interested as the story became more convoluted. Very disappointed with this book. Usually Ellora's Cave publishes good books....this was an "oops" for them.

For a short novel, this story was interesting and fast paced. The characters had amazing chemistry and I will look for other titles from this author.

Excellent book. I can't wait to read the whole series. I liked that it was different in that everyone was not a werewolf or vampire.
