4.0 out of 5 stars Classic NRG
Good selection from the vaults of TSR. All but the last 3 are the org. US 12" mixes. The last 2 seem to be misplaced on this CD. Weekend sounds like a rip-off of Paul Parker, Eastbound Expressway, with Kraftwerk on acid. Thankfully its short. Most of the songs come from Europe via the Record Shack label in England. The disc whould have received 5 stars if they whould have...

i bought this for DON QUICHOTTE by magazine 60 and the classic SO MANY MEN SO LITTLE TIME by miguel brown if it was the 12''. but it sure wasnt the 12'' of WAKE UP by STOP .it was a horrible short version. CAPITOL TROPICAL by two man sound is good but i'm sure i have that on other compilations like this comp. like most of the rest of the songs.

The disc whould have received 5 stars if they whould have tossed out the last 2 fillers and placed the org. mix of "Stop". That tune had an incredble break not found here. Overall, great party tracks from mid-eighties. Another good sourse of this style is "Record Shack Presents" 1&2. Both have 2 discs of the same 80's style and full length. Well worth the money if able to find them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A slice of 80's NRG, March 25, 2002
This review is from: TSR Retro Dance Classics (Audio CD)
Perfect collection of 80s hi-energy songs all in their 12" extended glory! A few of these extended mixes are not available anywhere else but on this disc. From the Sylvester-ish soul of Shawn Benson's "Secluded" to the quirky fun of Magazine 60's "Don Quichotte", you can't go wrong with this collection of fun NRG songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 in version and 7 inch version on this disc, May 29, 2010
This review is from: TSR Retro Dance Classics (Audio CD)
12 in. versions as well as 7 in. cuts. They needed a two cd set to include all 12 in versions.

I own the 12 in vinyl of many TSR cuts and this disc is nice. Would like to have, "The roof is on fire" by Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three and the B-Side "Request line" on the disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars One For The DJ's...., March 17, 2010
This review is from: TSR Retro Dance Classics (Audio CD)
I started DJ'ing in 1994 and this has been in my collection since 1996. A lot of the classics are on here. At first glance, it appears short since it only has 11 tracks. All of the songs on here are the original US 12" versions (as a previous reviewer pointed out). For example, "So Many Men..." is about 7 minutes and "Coming Out of Hiding" is 7 or 8 minutes. 2 tracks...nearly 16 minutes of music. For DJ's, having the 12" version is never a bad thing as they allow you to mix the music a lot easier with a longer beginning and ending. "Color My Love", "Coming Out of Hiding", and "So Many Men So Little Time" are the big his on this CD. I've revamped my DJ CD collection a few times but this CD has never left my case except to be played at a party. Great mix of 80's music. Whether you are a casual fan or a DJ looking for some good dance songs, don't pass up on this collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Early 80's Hi-NRG...YOU FOUND IT!, August 24, 2001
This review is from: TSR Retro Dance Classics (Audio CD)
This album contains my favorite songs of the early 80's "post-disco" era...The songs are in their full 12" format...songs you can't find anywhere else on CD!!! The CD is worth it just for Pamala Stanley's "Coming Out of Hiding" a rare gem found here in 12" version. These are my favourite 12" singles..."So Many Men, So Little Time", "High Energy", "Colour My Love"...HOT dance songs from end to end....perfect for dancing, exercising...Beautiful sound, beautiful tracks...

This Retro-cd really takes me back to the fun no holes barred partying of the early 80's. Shawn Benson's track #7 'Seclusion' really stands out, his voice is incredible. You really must buy this cd if you like to pump it up and have a blast!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD I Have Not Yet Heard!, December 20, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: TSR Retro Dance Classics (Audio CD)
I have yet to hear this CD, although, I was there on the dance floor when these songs were being played. I can hardly wait to get it in my hands, er... uh... on the CD player. Just seeing the titles of these songs brings back memories of fun in the 1980's.
