From the Manufacturer

Reverse Charades is a hilarious twist on the classic game of charades. Instead of one person acting out a clue for a team to guess, in Reverse Charades, a team acts out clues for one person to guess. The goal is to guess as many words as possible in 60 seconds. It’s a fast-paced, fiercely fun team completion that’s an absolute riot.

We've always enjoyed party games like Charades and Guesstures, in which teams of players try to guess words that one team member is acting out. You need the right group, but with kids, teenagers, and even adults, it can be a blast. But now along comes a party game that turns this idea somewhat on its head. Instead of one person acting and the rest of the team guessing, the entire team acts and one person guesses! That's it - that's the simple concept behind Reverse Charades, a new game that's just come out from Retroplay and Gryphon Games. And let me tell you, it works. This small twist to the classic game somehow successfully turns a good game into an even better one!

Charades is funnier with more people acting at once. A good actor can be funny to watch, for example imagine someone acting out "vacuum", "doggie paddle", "changing a diaper", "pillow fight", or "mouse trap". But these can become twice as funny when you have a group combining to act them out. For example, with "changing a diaper" you can have one team member being the baby, while another one pretends to change the diaper. Also imagine having four people at once acting "doggie paddle" or "ants in your pants" - it becomes even more hilarious than just having one person act it out!

But there are more advantages: Because multiple people are acting out words at once and together, the words are usually easier to guess. It's also more friendly for the self-conscious person in the crowd. The good thing with Reverse Charades is that it takes away the pressure of being a solo performer - instead of just one person acting, most of the team is! This helps people loosen up and lose their inhibitions, and also takes away the focus from one individual who may have social inhibitions.

Reverse Charades Junior is a great charades game for families.

Last year we reviewed Reverse Charades and Rollick - a couple games that employed the same new charades game mechanic. Both of these games had a twist on the typical charades game play of 1 person acting out while their teammates tried to guess the word or phrase. Instead, as the name implies, Reverse Charades and Rollick challenges the group to act out while only 1 person guesses.

Who knew that such a simple twist on charades could lead to so much fun.

However, even though they're a lot of fun to play, we found that they aren't as fun for children. A lot of the reason why they aren't as fun for family play with kids is because many of the words are unfamiliar to a younger crowd.

But then along came Reverse Charades Junior and it all changed.
Now we can have a great time playing this fun charades game with our whole family.
Reverse Charades Junior is full of words that kids can enjoy acting out as well. If your youngsters can read, then they can play. And even though the words are easy for kids to understand, adults also still have a lot of fun acting out things like toothpaste, dog pile, bee sting, glass slipper, and slam dunk.

And it's not limited to just our kids. We recently took Reverse Charades Junior with us on a vacation with our extended family and playing it was a big hit. Everyone in the family had a terrific time acting, guessing, and laughing a ton.

This is a fun game to play, and I find that it works very well for 1:1 as ell--no need only for the group version. We take turns trying to explain to the other person as many items as possible before the time is up, and the idea is to try and compete against oneself--i.e. get more words explained than the last term--than to compete against the other (this way the other person truly tries to guess rather than slows the other person down so that THEY would get more guesses...).
I play it with middle school children who find it delightful and silly.
It is also a great group game. A 11 year old used it in her birthday party and the room was roiling with laughter and delight. Half the parents in the room ended up ordering it for them houses. Great game. Great fun. Well packed so it is convenient to play AND to clean up and store. Fabulous.

Purchased this to have during our Xmas family gathering & it did not disappoint. While some "Negative Nellies" had to be convinced, especially when they saw the "Junior" label, it didn't take long at all for everyone to be whooping it up. We had a blast playing this game & look forward to including it in future family events. It's great for all ages as long as they can read.

Reverse Charades is a hilarious twist on charades where teams act out words for one person to guess! That's right...everyone acts out their card at the same time while one person from the team tries to guess them before the time runs out. I took Reverse Charades Junior Edition out one afternoon and asked who wanted to play it. I had about 8 kids come follow me to play the game. However, after only a couple of rounds of play, there were about 15 kids playing because they had seen how much fun it was and how much fun their friends were having and they wanted to join in too. The kids LOVED this game and although the game ends after each person on the team has had a turn to be the "guesser", we ended up playing until we had used all the cards! That's how much they enjoyed this game. Then when it was over, several of them asked me "When will you let us play it again?" There are all kinds of words on the cards (from easy to medium to challenging) so I was able to pick cards that were age appropriate for each child too.

As a parent and a homeschooling Mom, I love how Revere Charades is very educational too. It helps improve children's vocabulary and English skills, reading and could even be used in an ESL class. Did you know this game has always won numerous awards too! For playing on the go, there is even apps for Apple and Droid products. Along with the original Reverse Charades and the Junior Edition Reverse Charades there are also several expansion packs so the fun never ends. Reverse Charades is a great party game for your next family game night, family reunions, church groups, homeschooling co-ops, church youth groups, etc. and will have you laughing and competing all at the same time.
