Book Description

Enthusiast Color April 15, 2001
Over the last few years, "old school" techniques and aesthetics have emerged as the predominant trends among hot rod enthusiasts. Some of today's most notable "retro rods" are featured in this all-color overview of the current nostalgia for simpler and more utilitarian vehicles. Color photography depicts new hot rods that are built to resemble cars of the 1940s and 1950s, as well as some of the more unique and outrageous customs of the 1960s and '70s. In addition, the authors present case examples of hot rods from the 1940s and '50s that have been restored to their former glory.

3.0 out of 5 stars Retro Rods, well sort of, March 19, 2006

OK book. Good pictures but a little bit of just an overview, not much in depth or history but enjoyable to browse. Some of the cars don't really fit the retro theme, too modern or mixed styles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice book and pictures, September 30, 2005

This is a pretty nice book, it has nice pictures on the inside, and is nice to read it once and again... but after reading it three times, I still feel like there is something missing.

The first time I readed it, I felt like I had spend a great afternoon talking to and old guy who lived in first person all that time and has some nice stories to tell... but then comes the feelling "is there something missing?"

I'd like more information about making a retro rod, about how should it looks like (it says something, but again, I feel it just doesn't have all the info you would like).

For the price, it is a nice book, is just as expensive as a good magazine... about it's price-quality relationship, it seems like after reading it three times, it starts to brake...

All in all, I recommend it as a nice book.

some cool vintage shots and a few that are only 20 years old.... yawn..
The writing is just to fill up the spaces between the pictures and the pictures are just to fill up the pages..
