I just received mine in the mail today. It plays the games very well, and the controllers are alot more comfortable than the original nintendo ones. I got it for the younger kids so that they could play the games without worrying if the system would work or if they had to blow on the games. That was accomplished.

Problems with the system, are: as it IS compatible with the light gun, the original controllers are NOT compatible. Also not compatible is the Game Genie which leads me to beleive the software is an emulator?

I would like to know if this system reads Famicom 8 bit games, but cant seem to find any information on that at all.

This is supposed to be a 3rd party Nintendo replacement. In theory, it works well, as both my original controllers and my zapper worked with the controller ports. However, I had major issues with the A/V cables, they seemed to not connect correctly with my TV or my VCR. The system itself seems very flimsly, I feel like I am going to break it when I put a cartridge in. The official Nintendo top loader is much more sturdy, but this makes for a much cheaper alternative. As always though, buyer beware, as this is NOT an original or official Nintendo product.

It's way better than the original NES system. It's way more impressive plus I can carry it along with me anywhere because of its small size.

I was kind of skeptical purchasing this item. However, it delievered! My friend and I were wanting to break out the Tetris and Dr. Mario from back in the day. When we realized my Core system was no longer functioning properly, I investigated the price of replacing it with another Nintendo system. The cost to replace it would be at least $50 and that didn't guarantee that another system wouldn't fail. I saw this item and because the price was so reasonable (less than half of the NES), I decided to give it a try. Well, I am so glad I purchased this! We were playing the old games in no time. No more having to blow on the cartridges and reinserting 10 or 15 times. Set up was extremely easy as well.

I recieved the system in the mail today. Couldn't get it out fast enough. Was supprised at the size, but was amazed at the clarity of the system. Reminded me back when I was younger and opened my first nes system. Love playing all of my old games, I had given up on my old system of blowing and cleaning the games every few minutes it seemed like. I highly recommed this if your a fan of old school nes games.

This compact model of the original NES console is excellent! It's small and still plays the games. The controllers are slightly smaller, but a big improvement over the old rectangular ones. Also, what a great time we are having digging out all those old NES game classics and playing them again!

Let me start off by saying i grew up with the NES system. I literally was given one for my birthday 20 years ago next week( I will be 26). I started too remember the good ol days of gaming recently and decided too search ebay for a NES Sytem. I did not want too spend a ton, but i wanted a perfect functioning system. I purchased one that came with 6 games for 25 bucks. When it arrived nothing worked...I knew this was most likely going too happen so i replaced the 72-Pin connector inside. I also purchased the 3.8mm game bit. I took every game i had apart and cleaned them complete with acetone( some people say don't do it, but it works amazing).Once the system was put back together i could only get the games too work about 25% of the time. I went back and forth playing with the pins,cleaning games,etc. I finally decided to just purchase this Retron Nes System just for giggles.I saw reviews on youtube about it.Seemed like it works all the time but some games have colors and sound off.I just got the system about 2 hours ago.I hooked it up too my LCD tv and every game worked amazing!!!I then had to go over too my parents house,so i decided to bring this too try it on there old school tube tv...OMG!!!It was like i was playing in HD. This system is truly amazing. I believe i Spent $22 shipped for it and it comes with 2 controllers. The controllers are great because of the turbo buttons. It made playing metroid and zelda a breeze.The controllers are more comfortable then the original NES controller(which i tried and worked great).The system's colors and sound on a Tube tv are right on. I would never imagine any differnce from the orignal NES(however it was off on my lcd tv when compared too orginal NES).

I have too say if you want a problem free RETRO gaming experience, purchase this system. The Red/White System even looks like the Japanes Famcom (Japanese Nes).Truly a great value...Could go on and on, but im gonna play it again!Good Luck!

This is a great system, about the size of two NES cartridges, except it does NOT take the NES Advantage. It takes original rectangle controllers (thank God, because the controllers that come with it are total [...] and I'm not sure about light guns and dog bone controllers. Anyway, when I got this in the mail, I plugged it right in (setup is easy) and attempted to jam an NES cart in the slot, which is NOT easy to do (hint: don't buy this for young children), and the cartridge was Super Mario Bros. 3. The music sounded off, but the graphics, somehow, looked brighter than my old, now broken NES when the NES still worked. Also, a few notes of certain music were omitted. However, all my other NES games were spot-on. One more thing about the controllers: They are not even the same size as the original controllers, but they do have turbo and slow buttons. The Slow button does not work. The D-pad is very loosey-goosey, and even more mushy than the original NES D-pads. Basically, if you want an NES but don't like how incredibly ugly it is, get one of these, two original NES controllers, and some good NES games. (Recommended: Super Mario Bros. 3, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Super Mario Bros, Tetris, and Legend of Zelda) If your NES breaks and you still have the controllers, this is FAR better than a FC Twin or RetroDuo, and less expensive too. I don't know if this console breaks, but it might. I've only had mine for a week, and it hasn't broken yet. By the way, the cartridges are EXTREMELY hard to remove.

Does anyone know if these crappy controllers work with the original front-loading NES?

This product is not made by nintendo. So don't be fooled by its false advertisement. But, it is cute and it plays nintendo games, it does have a little trouble when it comes to set up. Its very sensitive when it comes to the wire plug in. It serves its purpose, my husband wanted the old school system and he got one. But if you want the orginal gaming system, you have to pay the price. This console overall was a good buy, especially since my husband has only played it one time since I bought it. Kids and there toys. The orginal nes should only be purchased by a mature collector, this system is for anyone who wants to play the classics at a cheaper price.

This produckt is amazing. I highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to go back in time and enjoy old NES games!
