Jersey Boy and former Stone Pony regular makes good!, September 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Retrospectacle (Audio CD)
I have been a Glen Burtnick fan since the late 1980s and was fortunate enough to see him live many times at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He is a great songwriter, a passionate singer and a first-rate entertainer. The cover shot on this CD was taken by a local Jersey photographer during one of the shows I attended at the Stone Pony. Glen never disappointed in concert. Every show was fresh and exciting. All the songs on this album are first rate. If you are not familiar with Glen Burtnick, get familiar with him. He's an amazing talent. You won't be sorry.

Outstanding performance from former Styx guitarist, January 8, 1999

This review is from: Retrospectacle (Audio CD)
Though Mr. Burtnick is no longer in the line-up of Styx, he surely hasn't missed a beat... or lick that is. Humor and stunning guitar licks through-out the entire CD keep the listener very satisfied. Retrospectacle is one of the best works released as of late. The man who helped the Armageddon Sountrack become one of the years best Albums and lent a few songs to Styx's comeback in 1996 with the song "Litte Suzie" formerly, "Little Lucy's Blues." Mr. Burtnick also wrote the song "Spirit Of A Boy, Wisdom Of A Man," which country artist Randy Travis is using to tear up the country charts.
"Roar", "Womans Point Of View", "Everyday Of My Life", "Don't Give Up On Me", "Love (And Love Alone)", "There's A Hero In Every Heart", "Local Hero", and the aptly said, "Love Is More Than A Four Letter Word" make this one sensational CD, which is to say if you don't have it in your collection, then your collection is not complete.

Excellent., April 10, 2011
This review is from: Retrospectacle (Audio CD)
I love a great singer / songwriter album, and Glen(n) has put out some great stuff. From the inspiring fairytale of self-expression known as "Roar" to the Styx-less rendition of "Love is the Ritual", this is the classic merger of poet meets music. Sure, it lacks the Album Oriented Rock continuity of "Palookaville" and "Welcome to Hollywood", but this is a compilation, and a very good one at that.
If you think you might like this, buy it... because you will.
