Great!!!, September 14, 2006
This review is from: Retrospective 94-06 (Audio CD)
I always felt a deep respect for dance/DJ artists who work on their own music. I always felt a DEEPER respect for those who create interesting cool music on their own such as laurent garnier does!
You can't go wrong with this compilation as it covers the best of the best from his repertoire! Although the video mix of the song flashback can be a little distracting at times, it's still something cool to have.
If you're into interesting electronic musique then please check this out! It's dark, unique, and GOOD.

Crispy Bacon is only the aperitif..., January 30, 2007
This review is from: Retrospective 94-06 (Audio CD)
At the end of the party on the new year's Eve, someone played Crispy Bacon in order to lift-up the exhausted troops... what a key moment that was for me! I'm still listening to Retrospective these days and became ever since a devoted admirer of Laurent Garnier; the original album "Unreasonable Behaviour" already stands in my collection and surely more original stuff will come... I'm totally captivated to the sound of the French DJ since the 1st day of this year!
Man with the Red Face, Sambou, Acid Eiffel, Communications from the Lab or Barbiturik Blues are definitely among the best electronic songs I've ever heard and therefore Retrospective is a compilation I most highly recommend.

None of the tracks ever gets started. Even Red Face (live) sucked, October 17, 2006
This review is from: Retrospective 94-06 (Audio CD)
If you are a die hard LG fan, then get this. If you think that Man With The Red Face rocked but don't care for him otherwise (like me), then don't get it. MWTRF was live and it was not very good, the sax solo is really painful.
Most of the tracks never seem to get going, it's as if they are filler tracks or B-sides.
Then there are a load of tracks that just suck, like the one that's two minutes of tinny Janapese banter. Come on! Where's the music??
