More About the Author

For over thirty five years, British born Michael Kenna has been looking at landscapes in ways quite out of the ordinary. His mysterious photographs, often made at dawn or in the dark hours of night, concentrate primarily on the interaction between the ephemeral atmospheric conditions of the natural landscape, and human-made structures and sculptural mass. Kenna is both a diurnal and nocturnal photographer, fascinated by times of day when light is at its most pliant. Using non digital equipment, his night time exposures can last up to ten hours, and his photographs often record details that the human eye is not able to perceive.

Kenna's intimate, exquisitely hand crafted black and white photographic prints reflect a sense of refinement, respect for history, and thorough originality. They have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout the world and are included in such permanent collections as The National Gallery, Washington, D.C.; The Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; The Shanghai Art Museum; and The Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Over forty books and catalogs have been published on Kenna's work.

I've been a Kenna fan for over 15 years. I have sorted through stacks of his images in galleries. I've never seen an image of his that I truly disliked, and have seen hundreds that I would love to have. This book is a continuation of his uncanny work in landscape photography. I don't have anything negative to say about this book.

After purchasing first Retrospective by Michael Kenna, I decided to buy this one too. This book has more recent work. It's printed with the same top quality we are coming to expect from Kenna books. The photographs themselves - I found them more interesting than the first Retrospective. Maybe because they're more recent, maybe it's just my taste.

My no doubt a great addition to my photography library.

This is a wonderful book of some of his most stunning photographs. If you like the super simple lines and very minimal Kenna photos of trees, snow, fences, etc., this is the book for you. Beautifully bound and organized book.

Michael Kenna's work is simply amazing. The longer you look at his photographs you can see many different elements coming together to create a work of art. I highly recommend his books especially if you are doing B&W fine art photography. There is definitely a talent and good eye required for B&W photography and he is one of the masters. It is very obvious that he takes his time at a location and works the composition to perfection.

Also as I told about 20 Years Retrospective Michael Kenna's, this is a book that every photographer should own and consult. It is printed with paper and exceptional quality. The images are both peace and hard to beat stress. Positivists in black and white are of exceptional quality. Highly recommended.
