She really could swing,
By placidothecat (MD United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Retrospective, Vol. 1: Standards (Audio CD)
A Wonderful overview of Remler's guitar playing on various standards. Some small group cuts and a couple duets with Larry Coryell show Remler as a traditionally voiced but modern, creative improviser. Too bad she's gone -- she really could swing.

Another Star, Please,
By A Customer
This review is from: Retrospective, Vol. 1: Standards (Audio CD)
Maybe I'm too easy, but plenty of lesser works get five stars. I've listened to four of her albums, and on each one, Emily Remler demonstrated rare generosity, i.e., she shared the stage. I like Transitions a little better, but still, this is some fine music.

One of the best rendition on "How Insensitive",
By Sandee Mae Lee (San Mateo, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Retrospective, Vol. 1: Standards (Audio CD)
The arrangement on "How Insensitive" was quite superb - far better than many others I have heard, and was played out clearly to deliver a sense of emotional despair as it was orginally written by FC.
