Biography

Guillaume Yann Tiersen (born 23 June 1970) is a French musician and composer. Editorial Reviews

PAL/Region 0. With his whimsical, melancholy music, Yann Tiersen has become a sought-after composer, not only for his soundtrack work, but in his own right. Borrowing from French folk music, chanson, musette waltz and street music, as well as rock, avant-garde, and classical and minimalist influences, Tiersen's deceptively simple style has been likened to Chopin, Erik Satie, Philip Glass, and Michael Nyman. This is his 2005 album featuring guest vocalists Liz Frazier, Jane Birkin, Stuart Stapple & Dominique A. *Please note you will need an All Code DVD Player to view. EMI. 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars The music that makes you dream, February 12, 2009
This review is from: Les Retrouvailles (Audio CD)
It is for sure not Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain soundtrack... Way deeper and whole-souled.

If you like the old drawer chest of your grandma and bouquet of wild flowers on top of it, if you like to sit in old grandpas chair on lazy and calm summer evening - is for you.

Les Retrouvailles is a passionate album. Happily and sadly romantic with a wonderful touch of mystery and mystique. In total, there are sixteen tracks of pure mental delight decorated with piano, accordion, harpsichord, violin, mandolin, bass, guitar, banjo, melodica, toy piano, typewriter, vibraphone and various rhythm instruments.

I can't even describe to you how great this cd is. It is simply spectacular/amazing. After hearing the soundtrack to Goodbye Lenin, I was quite disappointed. I thought that Amelie might have been the peak of Yann's career but I was very wrong. Les Retrouvailles is 120568x's better than Amelie. I definitely recommend it, especially track three...wonderfully mezzmerizing. It puts you right on the banks of the Siene looking up at the effiel tower. I am so grateful to have found this incredible music. Thanks again Yann!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, October 5, 2006
This review is from: Les Retrouvailles (Audio CD)
I love this music, I cant even describe it. It is out of this world.

If you liked his soundtrack of the move Amelie, you are going to love this one, it is a little more contemporary and more diverse. Its great.
