shola's "in return" marks a great return by the brit . she can compete very competitively with all the other soul diva's . "Much love" was great but "in return" has the pulp, the beats, the lyrics to make it shola's numero uno album...i love this album sooooo much . I am a brit myself, born of african parents and currently living in dallas texas where i'm a med student @ southern methodist uni(s.m.u)...and i tell you the peeps this side love your album shola each frat party we have we gotta bump some imagine/still believe/that thing and all those other soul ful balladslove you shola .....ps you look soooo good girl cant wait for shola to tour states side....

Shola Ama In Return,
By Abbie (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In Return (Audio CD)
Shola Ama, is one of the most underated R&B soul artist of our time. With a unique angelic voice, her songs are food for the soul. This album "In Return" concentrates more towards contemparty R&B, you will be hooked on songs like Imagine, I Believe, This Time Next Year and many more.... Shola's first album "Much Love" concentrated more on melodic souful tunes, a slight variation to "In Return". Trust me it is well worth your while to check her out. Look out for Shola's new album "Supersonic" being relased on 25 June 2002.

WOW. How did I miss this artist?,

That's what I was thinking as I listened to Shola Ama's CD. If you like smooth and mellow R&B then you'll love this. She takes a different approach to love. She talks about how much she loves a man as oppose to hating men. I really am excited I found her. I have truly been missing out.

She's grown up and so has her music! On this album Shola has worked with Babyface, Angie Stone, Harvey Mason jnr and many more! This is true r'n'b and all r'n'b fans need this album! Though Shola Ama's return in the music industry hasn't been that successful compared to last time this album is truly worth buying! dynamite baby!

Shola Ama with this album has done a great come back! Almost all the singles are excellent. If you like shola's style, you will love this cd. I recommend you Still Believe, Queen for a day, which are futur hits. Go and buy this album immediately, you won't regret it.

Underrated normality,

Don't get me wrong, I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone who had a slight interest in R&B, but it's kind of more of the same. With writer Angie Stone (who wrote the stand out "Lovely Affair") and producer Darkchild, the UK import is definitely tuned into the American R&B scene. She has a very sweet, high voice that is interesting to hear over the deep grooves of the tracks. It reminds me of Aaliyah in a way. Worth getting.

A good CD . . . but a little rushed,

When I heard Shola's first album, I was captivated by the smooth, flowing vocals and the sweet r'n'b sound. So of course I bought her second album straightway. This album features some really good tracks, like 'That Thing' and 'Can't Have You' and of course 'Imagine' with a new, funk sound. But some of the slower songs really let Shola down - songs like 'Superficial Fantasy' don't possess any kind of sparkle to make them really memorable. Shola's voice is up to scratch, but the production of this album isn't. However, for some nice background music this album is great. Just a few songs on the album let it down, with a boring tune and frankly terrible music. Shola's voice is sweet as always.

Shola Ama is back,
By Charlotte Combs (England) - See all my reviews

This album is a definate more mature sound from Shola, especially as she's done work with Rodney Jerkins (Brandy,Whitney) yet still keeps the original sound. Great songs are Imagine,Run to me,and Can't have you.In fact it's one of thoses albums where all the songs are good.I'd recommend this to anyone who loved her last album or digs the R'n'B scene at the moment.

Smooth.........Classy!,
By
This review is from: In Return (Audio CD)
The tracks and musical arrangements with Shola's voice are unbelievably smooth, slush and man,..so fine! She sings with such clarity and soul that she infects and affects moods; especially with tracks like "Still Believe". If you pay close attention, there are subtle semblances to the musical style found on Whitney's new album (Song Track: If I told you so) and Shola's Song Track 2, "Imagine". If you go for class and a guaranteed commercial hit, then you will feel your money's well spent. Go splurge!
