More About the Author

Gene Edwards is one of America's most beloved Christian authors. He has published over 25 best-selling books, and his signature work, "The Divine Romance," has been called a masterpiece of Christian literature. He has written biblical fiction covering nearly the entire Bible, with titles that include the following: "The Beginning," "The Escape," "The Birth," "The Divine Romance," "The Triumph," "Revolution," "The Silas Diary," "The Titus Diary," "The Timothy Diary," "The Priscilla Diary," "The Gaius Diary," and "The Return."

Gene grew up in the East Texas oil fields and entered college at the age of 15. He graduated from East Texas State University at 18 with a bachelor's degree in English history and received his M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Gene is part of the house-church movement, and he travels extensively to aid Christians as they begin meeting in homes rather than in church buildings. He also conducts conferences on living the deeper Christian life.

Gene and his wife, Helen, reside in Jacksonville, Florida, and have two grown children.

This is a terrific story, placed in a prospective where characters come to life that you knew existed in the lives of the main characters but never came to know until Gene Edwards brought them to life in story. It is like seeing God's plan come into fruition before your eyes. Even a small child can comprehend the awesomeness of God as it is being read to them. It brings relationships between people into view that are so natural and normal that it makes you feel you are a part of story, like a friend standing right there in the midst of all the events. Mr. Edwards carrys an anointing that most good writers can't even imagine exist.

The Birth tells the story of the birth of Christ from heaven’s perspective. This is a fascinating short but powerful book about the events of the incarnation – the invasion of God into human form as the baby Jesus. We discover the excited and significant roles the angels played as they realized something new was about to happen and they are instructed to be messengers to Mary and Joseph and then to appear to the shepherds. The story is told in historical sequence and shows the concerns of Joseph and Mary as well as their delight in the many affirmations of Jesus divinity. His divinity is confirmed by the angels, the shepherds, the Kings and the prophets in the temple. This is a delightful book that could be read to grade school children at Christmas as well as enjoyed by adults.

I have read this series years before and gave it away to pass on to others.... it's worth the read again. So, I am very happy to have found the entire series on Amazon!
Gene Edwards is a master story teller and it's easy to believe what he writes as true.... or could be. The angels' words, actions and emotions are so belivable. I love the way Gene Edwards writes, all his books are so vital.

Loved the series for these reasons: The author does an excellent job at describing the details of heaven (his perspective of course), the series as a whole is quite emotional. For example, you (or at least me) come to higher understand of God's love for the human race, and Lucifer's jealous despise of man, and to the extent of which Christ suffered for the salvation of our souls.

Gene Edwards is such a great story teller and this book really is fantastic. It paints such a great picture of the human side of Mary and Joseph and I loved the spiritual warfare aspect as well. Old and new believers alike will enjoy reading it, especially during the Christmas season.

My most favorite Christmas story. You laugh. You cry. I couldn't tell you how many copies I have purchased and given away. Last Christmas I couldn't afford a copy and had given ours away. Christmas was incomplete.
