This review is from: A Return to Common Sense (Paperback)
A Return to Common Sense manages to expose the reality of our current system and its cost not only to the earth, our local economies and communities, but our very health, emotional, physical and spiritual. But he doesn't stop there. Prof. Ikerd started his career believing and 'pushing' traditional 'bottom-line' theories of economic development, but his work with farmers and his personal experiences lead him to a deep transformation. He realized that more cheap goods did not make him or anyone happy. Quality of life, he points out is rooted in something else: in relationships and purpose in life, something we all already know. Prof. Ikerd propose a vision for the future. Not a dream, not a utopia, but practical ideas and illustrations of how we can change our world, so that it makes sense, once again. Incredibly insightfull and inspiring.
