I've been looking for a copy of this book for years and I'm quite pleased with the condition of the copy I did receive. The book was in excellent condition and the price was more than reasonable, I'll definitely buy here again.

Dinos do it,

This review is from: Return of the Dinosaurs (Paperback)
I agree with the premise that there is not enough dino fiction. This volume fills the void left by the asteroid impact that obliterated the most amazing bunch of chomping, horn gouging, tail whipping, spike spiking, claw scratching, club wielding, wing flapping beasties ever to grace the planet. I hope there will be another such compendium of dinosauroid literature. But perhaps not. Maybe dino writers have gone extinct too. Then again, there's Dinosaur Wars by Thomas Hopp. Newer and more dino-lightful. So never give up hope. Long live the saurians!

excellent example of dinosaur fiction,

I've read all the dinosaur fiction collections by martin h. greenburg and this book is one of the better ones, though a couple of the stories are a little hard to follow, they all turned out great, and it has more of a lighter side than his other anthologies( based on dinosaurs), you can also try his other books, DINOSAURS, DINOSAURS 2, and DINOSAUR FANTASTIC, the only thing that bugged me was that some stories are republished in other volumes, good dino fiction is hard to come by, and this is it.

Lightweight and Uneven, But With a Few Gems,
By Donald J. Bingle "orphyte" (Saint Charles, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Return of the Dinosaurs (Paperback)
I'm a fan of DAW's themed anthologies (I even have stories in a number of them), so I was delighted to pick up this book at the train station several weeks ago. Unfortunately, too many of the stories were too lightweight or too cute for my taste and my expectations--wacky anthropomorphisms of animals are just not my cup of tea. The perfunctory author bios and the insider joke story by one author about the editor probably did not improve my mood or my view of the collection. There are a few gems, however, particularly "Flight," by Michelle Sagara West, which has a haunting, melancholy tone, without a speck of cutesiness about it.
