Celebrating the beauty and ecological importance of America's preeminent political symbol,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Return of the Eagle: How America Saved Its National Symbol (Paperback)
Even though it is an American national symbol, the eagle was in grave danger of extinction due to such problems as habit erosion and contamination. Environmental and animal protection laws were instituted to conserve and reestablish the eagle over the past three decades. Now in a newly revised and updated edition, "Return Of The Eagle: How American Saved Its National Symbol" by Greg Breining documents the successful reestablishment of the Eagle population in an informed and informative text that is superbly illustrated by full color photography throughout. Of special note is the extensive and alphabetically organized (by state) 'Directory of Bald Eagle Viewing Sites" that concludes this outstanding 125-page compendium celebrating the beauty and ecological importance of America's preeminent political symbol. "Return Of The Eagle" should be a part of every school and community library's Pets & Wildlife reference collection, as well as environmental and wildlife restoration supplemental reading list.
