About the Author

Born and raised in Aurora, Illinois I spent my childhood playing street games with the neighborhood kids. When I wasn't outside, I spent much of my time reading and getting lost in adventurous worlds and whirlwind courtships. At the age of seventeen, I moved to Kentucky and eventually began to raise a family of my own. I have always been entranced by stories of magical adventure, and though I have had to live in the practical world, running a family business as well as two of my own, I have discovered that writing is an entirely new, exciting adventure all on its own! We have a large family and our get togethers are so much fun! And did I mention that I’m a photographer? Yes, I take tons of photos! We also have a mini dachshund, her name is “Roxy” she only weighs 10 pounds but is a huge part of our family. She's so spoiled!

My two sons aged 6 and 10 both loved the book, and so did I! The story is intriguing, full of mystery and suspense. The characters are adorable and the relationships portrayed between the brothers and their sister show evidence of an author who knows kids well - she also knows all the little things that will fascinate them...like magic hourglasses, a time-travel clock, secrets, a secret door, children being able to do great "adult" things for themselves like taking care of a shop and maintaining the office, and a villain that is bad but not too scary to give them nightmares, and two loving but busy parents. Lovely, violence-free and well-written work!

I chose this rating because it was a great book.
I love the great things at the end of each chapter in this book and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes magic.

I am a grown up, but I really like kids books and hope to get my great-granddaughter to read this one at some point. I read the original Finkleton book and then saw this one so had to get it. It didn't disappoint. Can't wait for the next one.

Taking place about two years after the first book, ("The Magic of Finkleton") this is a continuation of life in Finkleton. While we may have thought Jack, Lizzy, and Robert had discovered all of the magical secrets in Uncle Harry's store, this new book proves us wrong. Not only are there new secrets, and new magic to explore, there is something the children discovered before that plays an important roll in their adventures.

Once again KC Hilton has shared her vivid imagination with us to enjoy a visit to Finkleton that is filled with surprises---both good and bad. Children and the young at heart will enjoy the return and especially Robert's unusual predicament.

Hilton has written a magical tale that is sure to become a classic much like the works of Edward Eager and Elizabeth Enright. Don't miss reading the Finkleton books---you will be glad you did!

I enjoyed this book just as much as "The Magic of Finkleton". The story line kept me wanting to never stop reading. But had to go to work and busy with life. I really felt like I was part of the story at times. I always dreamed of things happening like this in my life. Great for anyone to read who loves an adventure. Cannot wait for "Saving Finkleton". I hope K.C. Hilton continues the adventure.

Perfect for a mother or father to read to a child at bedtime.
While this story can stand on its own without difficulty, I would recommend you read the first book first; a child may need the background more than an adult would... It's 62 years since I was first read to at night, and, truthfully, I don't recall the workings of my child mind.
I can tell you that this was a delightful story to read, not only for a child, but also for an adult in need of a light, refreshing break from the intensity that accompanies most adult literature these days. I thoroughly enjoyed both The Magic of Finkleton, as well as Return to Finkleton, the sequel.
This is a book that will be enjoyed by even the youngest listeners as well as by the adult doing the reading. And I highly recommend reading not just stories, but also full book such as this to even toddlers. My own mother read books to me even during my first 2 years, The Wizard of OZ, Tic Tock from OZ, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Heidi, to name some favorites. And it helped me develop a life-long interest in the adventures & information found bound between the covers.

I know these are children's books but I remain a child at heart. I love the thought of a magical place. There is always a place for pure whimsy. No, there really is no place like Finkleton, but if we can enjoy flying carpets then why not a magical place where the weather is always just exactly perfect for individual crops?

More About the Author

Born and raised in Aurora, Illinois I spent my childhood climbing trees and playing street games with the neighborhood kids. I was a proud tomboy, until the day I didn't want to hike the land to an old graveyard. From that point forward I was considered a "girl".

At the age of seventeen I moved to Kentucky and eventually began to raise a family of my own. Having worn several "hats" my life has been an adventure all on its own. Still, to this day, I yearns to be a mechanic and own a pink toolbox with pink tools.

I can usually be found updating my website, reading great books, watching awesome movies or creating videos for my YouTube channel. Most days I craves Diet Coke, pizza and chocolate, in no particular order.

I don't read scary books or watch horror movies. I'm way too scared!
