Book Description

June 28, 2004
Culminating with the much anticipated, nationally televised showdown with eventual national champion Louisiana State University, the 2003 University of Mississippi Ole Miss Rebels' football season took the program to new heights and electrified the town of Oxford. This dazzling remembrance captures the most important moments of the season, from the rousing win at Gainesville against the University of Florida to the crushing last-second loss at the hands of LSU. Quarterback Eli Manning's historic season is chronicled as he surpassed many of the records set by his father, Ole Miss legend Archie Manning, and put himself in position to be the first pick in the NFL draft. The season-ending win against Oklahoma State at the Cotton Bowl that returned Rebel football, once again, to national prominence comes to life in this stunning portrayal of one of Ole Miss football's finest moments.

This review is from: Return to Glory: An Ole Miss Football Season to Remember (Hardcover)
If you are a fan of football photography, as I am, then you will love this full color photograpic essay of Ole Miss' 2003 season. There is very little text except for the description given to each photgraph. This is as visually pleasing of a football book as I have ever seen. I was concerned that it would be nothing more than an Eli Manning tribute but was pleasantly surprised when the book arrived. The photographer, Bruce Newman, does an excellent job of balancing the book's content. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy looking at photos again and again finding the little things they may have missed before. Mr. Newman got this one right! I only wish more commemorative football books would follow the lead set by this one.
