Book Description

April 1998
This latest work from renowned writer Erich von Daniken puts forward the controversial proposition that we have been subject to countless visits from beyond this planet for many years. The culmination of long-term research, his book argues that we are very much in the minds and eyes of other cosmic life-forms and that, as a result, many of the dramatic events and remarkable teachings or religious texts should be reinterpreted--even the idea of Judgment Day itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enteraining, April 26, 1999

This review is from: The Return of the Gods: Evidence of Extraterrestrial Visitations (Hardcover)
Erich von Daniken has taken alot of criticism in the past over his theories of extraterestrial influence upon the development of human civilisation. Despite all this he is still a best selling author, and although his theories often go against the grain, he does argue his hypothesis in a coherent and logical manner! That is what this book achieves, and by placing his main arguments into fabricated scenarios, he makes sure that what he is trying to convey is well understood!!!!!

Although I do not believe in his theories, i did enjoy reading this book, and came away from it thinking "It may be possible...."

A definite must for anyone of the extraterestrial influence persuasion, and for anyone not, a good entertaining read

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth may be in this book., May 26, 1998

If you want to know the truth behind God and other religious figures, then read this book. This well thought out book tells about the possible connection between Extraterrestrials and Religion. To fully understand the point of this book, you must know a fair amount about religion and ancient history. You must also be open minded about life in the Universe besides Earth. Daniken obviously studied tremendously on religion, the Bible and ancient history to come up with this book. He tells of what may really happened in the Ascension when Lucifer was exiled from Heaven to Earth where Lucifer and his followers mated with Earth females. It also includes theories about the Ancient Sacred textbook of India, the Rig Veda. In the Rig Veda he discovered that the book tells of three cities in Space where the Hindu Gods may have came from. The point of this amazing book is that possibly all of Earth's religion was created when Extraterrestrials visited Earth during the Ancient times to teach humans who thought the E.T.'s were superior. I highly recommend this book if you are interrested in Aliens, UFO's, the second coming, ancient civilizations, and religion. This book is easy to comprehend and is a must read!!! ---Mike L.---

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read...and a new way of looking at space, May 28, 2008
I must admit, I have an open mind...yes, it's true. I had not thought about some of the points that Erich von Daniken put down in writing. It IS far fetched...but he does give you an excellent insight into added ways to look at things. How would you explain an aeroplane to a child that had never seen metal or plastic?? (maybe I would draw a picture, but what the heck...maybe there were no pencils)
I found this to simply add some more depth to my own thoughts about Life out there...besides ours. I think I will stick to watching Discovery, but it was definatly an entertaining read...Now I can spend hours debating with my buddy about the "what ifs" of all of us being decendents or hybrids from space!!
