5.0 out of 5 stars Its like bones talking from the dead!!!
I absolutly love this book! It is an amazing tale of laughter and fright. The way the dogs (and cats) piece it together is amazing. The fright is bone chilling and the laughter is hilarious. It is the best book I have ever read with the Weasel, 2 wierd cats and way, way more!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the original Howliday Inn
Well, when I first started reading this, I was so intrigued. The uncovering of the bones and collar was SO dang spooky!! But then it all just fizzled out. I was really disappointed. And I missed the old cast of characters from Howliday Inn: Louise, Taxi, Max . . . especially Lyle, the secret agent cat! I swear, this book is nowheres near as good as Howliday Inn! The...

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK IS SOOOOO COOL!, August 23, 1998

This review is from: Return to Howliday Inn (Paperback)
This book is about Harold, Chester and Howie going back to Chateau Bow-Wow where Howie was first born. They meet some mysterious animals at their stay. Even more mysterious is Rosebud, the ghost and her warning about the secret of Howliday Inn.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite books as kid!, November 6, 2004

This review is from: Return to Howliday Inn (Paperback)
I actually read this book before the original Howliday Inn, and I still think I like it better. I must have read it at least twenty times, because it never failed to make me laugh out loud, and still does! I loved animal characters, and the ones here are so clever, and the dialogue is unbelievably witty for a kid's book. Some of the humor, like the Shakespeare references, I didn't get until I was much older. "A 700-page first novel entitled Ah, Life!"

The original is much spookier and cooler 'cause there's lots and lots of real dangers! If you haven't read the original Howliday Inn, I so recommend you do so!

The pets that are staying at Chateau Bow Wow want to escape before something terrible is about to happen. I liked the book very much because it had great descriptions that you cant picture in your mind. You are surprised at what's going to happen. It makes you want to keep reading until you find out what happens to the characters. It is also funny. There are other books by this author. The books are Bunnicula, Howliday Inn, The Celery Stalks at Midnight, and Nighty-Nightmare.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun bed-time reading, November 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book to go with the others in the Bunnicula series. The reason why I bought this book is somewhat of a funny story... basically, I had been reading the books to my pet rabbit and he had such a good time listening that I just bought the rest of them.

The books are funny and an excellent read for preteen and younger boys. Girls should also enjoy the "detective" work involved with finding out "whodunnit". I would like to see a bit more pictures. Some characters appeared to be drawn differently from book to book.

The product arrived at the time expected along with two others. They were all wrapped up adequately and arrived in excellent condition.

I would recommend this book for both pet and non-pet readers :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, November 13, 2008
Once again, the Monroes are going on vacation, and Harold and Chester find themselves back at Chateau Bow-wow.

Of the three pets (not including Bunnicula, who again gets to stay with friends rather than at the creepy "Howliday Inn"), only Howie the dachshund puppy is excited to be there, since it is, after all, where he was born. Harold and Chester, however, are understandably wary of the place, given that, the last time they were there, they had a kidnapping/murder mystery to solve.

Even with a new set of residents at the Chateau, things don't prove any different this time around. At once, the pets come across a mysterious voice begging to be set free, and a pile of bones that might have once been a former boarder! "Rosebud," the ghost of a Yorkshire terrier, swears that there is a terrible secret inside the Chateau Bow-wow, which ultimately led to her demise.

It's up to Harold, Chester, and the rest of the animals to solve the mystery...or escape before it's too late.

As with the first HOWLIDAY INN, a hilarious and varied cast of animals move the story along swiftly towards an exciting conclusion. This is definitely not one to miss if you're a BUNNICULA fan.

I purchased a number James Howe mystery books for my granddaughter in an effort to cut into her computer game playing time. It worked wonderfully. Once she started reading one of the mystery books, she could not put it down. James Howe is able to inject just enough humor into his mysteries that they are not frightening. I think my granddaughter read his complete series including Return to Howliday Inn. Good series for children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Return to Howliday Inn --great!!, January 19, 2008
The first three Bunnicula books were favorites of mine when I was young. I bought them for my son's Christmas present. He loves them. He reads them in the car and laughs out loud at parts. It is hard to find books that boys will love and want to read. These fit the bill!
