Outstanding production! Intersperses combat footage with interviews with a group of Iwo veterens returning to the island to meet with some of the Japanese survivors. Special permission was needed since the island is now home to a Japanese military installation. Great personal stories, some of them heart-rending. Interesting footage of the island in modern times contrasted with the original combat footage. Would love to see this released on dvd. Ed McMahon (yes Johnny's sidekick from the Tonight Show) a marine veteren himself narrates. Overall a fine tribute to the men who served on Iwo Jima.
