5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo Barry! Bravo!
I can't tell you how long I have been waiting for this CD. I saw a story of it on The Daily Show and just had to purchase it. Since yesterday, it has been playing non-stop on my stereo. Even though my dog now walks around the house and yelps all day, this small discomfort is worth all the great and many treasures found within "The Return of Johnny Bravo."...

3.0 out of 5 stars The one casanova who fit the suit
I guess you could call this Barry Williams's "comeback" album, although he was never a big record star in the first place. It features two original songs, plus cover versions of many well known songs. The originals are "Johnny's Back", which is an amusing tounge-in-cheek song about Barry's alter ego, and "Here Again", which is a mediocre ballad. The rest of the songs...

It features two original songs, plus cover versions of many well known songs. The originals are "Johnny's Back", which is an amusing tounge-in-cheek song about Barry's alter ego, and "Here Again", which is a mediocre ballad. The rest of the songs you are probably already familiar with. I have to admit, Barry sings very well. His voice is much improved from his "Greg Brady" days, and he handles most of the songs pretty well. The question is, do you really need to hear Barry Willams covering Queen, Huey Lewis and the Bee Gees? If you do, this is the album for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia Worthy, October 6, 2004
This review is from: Return of Johnny Bravo (Audio CD)
I got this CD because I'm a Brady Bunch fan, and I loved the episode with Johnny Bravo! Barry Williams can sing, but his vocals were stronger on the Best of the Brady Bunch CD, It's a Sunshine Day. He is ok here, but not as strong as in the past. Still, I'd recommend this CD for all Brady Bunch fans, and lovers of nostalgia.

Even though my dog now walks around the house and yelps all day, this small discomfort is worth all the great and many treasures found within "The Return of Johnny Bravo." An eclectic mix of old and new material, Barry manages to provide a timely and poignant synthesis of the music of the past thirty years. What other CD combines songs by The Turtles, Queen, and Billy Vera? It's a godsend. Instead of buying all the originals, I can now have them all on one CD by the great Johnny Bravo. Thank you, Barry. Thank you. I guess we'll be seeing you at the Grammies.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, August 12, 2000

This album is not very good.Barry CAN sing, but these tunes that he chose just don't cut it.I bought this album hoping the great "Johnny Bravo" would pick good tunes to croon on.Instead he picked already pretty weak tracks. The only exception is "Happy Together",he did an excellent job on that."Johnny's Back" is VERY childish sounding though his voice is the best on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars It could be better I suppose, November 14, 1999

Okay, so the music is poor, the vocals are not the best. However, for the price and the reaction you will get from friends when you pop this CD into the stereo it is a SOUND BUY! Seriously there is nothing like a beverage shooting out the nose of a close friend onto the floor when "Johnny" hits, "and I'm gonna rock this town tonight." It is quickly becoming a dorm favorite here at Michigan State.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new masterpiece!, November 5, 1999

The Wall, Zep' 4, Rumors, The White Album, Back in Black... what do all these albums have in common? They've shaped Western society. And now "The Return of Johnny Bravo" promises to continue, and improve on, where those left off. Certainly the best album of this decade, if not the best rock and roll album ever made!

5.0 out of 5 stars AN INSTANT CLASSIC, October 20, 1999

I must admit that I was skeptical at first. After all, it has been 25 years since Barry showed off those glorious pipes in his role as Greg, the oldest of six step-siblings in a severely dysfunctional family. However, one listen to his tear-jerking rendition of "At This Moment" made clear that Barry's incredible voice has lost nothing. In fact, much like fine cheese, it has mellowed with age. And what fine cheese it is. Barry takes the touching Billy Vera ballad and makes it his own. Barry's breaktaking vocals and Krafty stylings are the stuff of musical dreams. His inspiring take on Queen's seminal work, "We Are the Champions," had me running around the office with my arms raised high in the air. Despite the stares of co-workers, I continued down the hall, fed by the pure joy gushing forth from the stereo. Running through a full conference room, I could not help but shout "I am the champion, my friends!" But Barry - he's the real champ. Do yourself a favor and get this one today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put plainly, a masterpiece, October 10, 1999

I never would have believed Williams could outdo rock n roll classics like "Keep On" and "We Could Make The World a Whole Lot Brighter" but the Casanova of Clinton Avenue has done it! Tunes like "Johnny's Back" are what rock n roll is about. A must have for any discerning music fan.

This guy really fits the suit!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars oh...my...god, May 5, 2000
This review is from: Return of Johnny Bravo (Audio CD)
First, let me say that I'm 23 and for some (sick) reason I find my self watching the Brady Buch rather obsessively on Nick At Nite, so I am quite used to such cheesy classics as "Keep On", "We can make the World A whole Lot Brighter", and i even made it through Davey Jones singing "Girl." But holy cheesy Batman, these songs make the It's A Sunshine Day Best of the Brady Bunch CD look like Sgt. Pepper or Pet Sounds. I love the Bunch, I LIKE Barry Williams, but I just cant listen to this cheeseball corny music. I mean, hip to be square was bad enough when it first came out...now THIS? Maybe this music is what sent Tiger to an early grave (of which he's probably rolling in right now). I'll bet even Sam the Butcher would give it two pork chops (and an applesauce) down. Sunshine Day was at least good for a laugh or two...this just isnt funny. Barry, we love you...but just go sit in the corner for a while and promise to never redo 70's (or ANY)schmaltz again. As for me, now i know what Alex from A Clockwork Orange felt like when he heard Beethoven after his treatment.
