Biography

Nekromantix is one of the premier psychobilly bands in the worlda live juggernaut whose shows and albums are a guaranteed good time. None of that changes on Life Is A Grave& I Dig It!!!, but theyre just not the same band. Antithetic to their horror aesthetic, theyve changed into somethingbetter.

For nearly a decade, Nekromantix wrecked across the U.S., U.K., Europe and Japan, emerging from the… Read more in Amazon's Nekromantix Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Nekromantix Does It Again, July 10, 2006
This review is from: Return of the Loving Dead (Audio CD)
Ok, this album is probably their best album... It is kind of hard to pick one. Return of the Loving Dead has everything. This album stays true to the psychobilly genre. They are still extremes in that area. Unlike Curse of the Coffin, Nekromantix did not try too hard and over do the psycho image (although i do not regret buying Curse of the Coffin). Nekroman is a beast on his bass, and the lyrics are great. The songs on this album are all in the same catagory, but somehow they cover a variety of feelings. When you are in the mood to just kinda rock out, there are songs that are very appealing, when you wanna hear/see something messed up and twisted... Oh yeah, you can get that on this album. And if you are in the mood for just moderation, there are a few songs for that, or you can basically just turn the volume down a little, except on the twisted ones! The album has some good length to it, and i would reccoment this album, and actually gaurentee that you will like it if you like bands such as, Tiger Army, Horrorpops, Nekromantix (duh), Koffin Kats, and The Misfits. If you ever liked any of the Nekromantix albums... then get this one. You will become a Nekro fan for life. If Nekromantix is new to you, then you might want to sample a few of their songs first (Who Killed The Cheerleader, Hellcat, Subculture Girl, and Nekronomicon... that should cover some of the variety)

Honestly... Get the album

5.0 out of 5 stars Psychobilly at its best, December 1, 2005
By
Dan Callahan (Long Valley, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Return of the Loving Dead (Audio CD)
I bought this album in August of 2005 at a record store in Banff, just browsing the store and looking for something that I thought I would like. I saw this album sitting among racks and racks of other albums and it stood out because I remembered listening to 'Gargoyles Over Copenhagen' on an Epitaph promo cd, a song which grew to be one of my all time favorites. However, now my taste for this band has grown to encompass not only to allow me to enjoy simply one or two tracks, but simply the entire disc.

This album is quite simply a masterpiece. Nekromantix have an instantly recognizable, signature sound that is supplied by the dark, evil vocals of lead singer Kim Nekroman as well as the 'CoffinBase' that he also plays. This combination of instruments and vocals creates a band that sounds something like The Clash straight from the '50s. This entire album reeks of nostalgia from B grade horror movies and mid-'50s Rockabilly. However, this album is simply great, insanely high-energy punk rock with a country-esque flair. Although the album may be very high energy, it is also very accessible to the average listener who wants to get into the heavier side of punk. An excellent, all-round buy.

Standout tracks:

Nice Day for a Resurrection
Subcultural Girl
Gargoyles Over Copenhagen
Trick Or Treat
Murder For Breakfast
Haunted Cathouse*

5.0 out of 5 stars HAIL TO THE DEAD KINGS OF PSYCHO!, July 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Return of the Loving Dead (Audio CD)
Now, I'm gonna have to disagree with many psychos out there when I say that this album is pretty darn good! I love these kings of psycho just as much as any other psycho out there and i'm gonna have to say that this album is one of there best and it comes pretty close to rivaling curse of the coffin and hellbound. I don't think they got watered down at all and actually think that this hellcat release is really gonna help to get the gospel of psycho out to all my fellow american teens and psychos who don't know what there missing. I love this album and its a hell of a lot better than Demons are a Girls Best friend.
