A Fascinating and Beautifully Written Romance,
By
This review is from: Return to Paradise (Torres Family Saga) (Kindle Edition)
Benjamin Torres and Miriam Toulon are engaged and would seem to be an ideal match. They are urbane, civilized, compassionate physicians. But they are perhaps too much alike and maybe it is true, as in this story it appears, that opposites do attract. Miriam winds up loving and marrying the very opposite of Benjamin, his half-brother Rigo, a mercenary soldier who killed his first man before he was even in his teens. Benjamin winds up loving a thoroughly uncivilized gypsy girl, Rani Janos, who thinks nothing of braining a man or even killing one, if necessary. Another thing that struck me about this unusual story (which I really liked) was that while Rigo and Rani shared certain traits, so do the heroines. Both the "lady" Miriam and the "waif" Rani are more than willing to kill anyone who threatens the men they love. In fact, both save their men using rather violent means (can't give away details). No shrinking violets here. I like stories where the women can hold their own with the men.
If you like Return to Paradise (you will), make sure to check out Paradise & More: Paradise & More (Torres Family Saga)
