Very shortly after D-Day, a young GI narrowly avoided drowning as he came ashore on Normandy's Utah Beach as part of an intelligence unit with General Patton's famed 3rd army. In the following months he had enough adventures and experiences to last a lifetime. This is the story of the author's return to Normandy following the route that he, as an intelligence officer in Patton's third Army, took in 1944 as the Germans hastily retreated. Within the pages he has a number of emotional reunions with French families as he visits places etched deep in his memory. With foreword by the grand-daughter of General Patton.
