Return to La Paz,
By Rachael Geneva (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Return to La Paz: Tales of Travel, Meditation and Ayahuasca (Paperback)
The spelling mistakes add realism to Tom's unbelievable rite of passage through the Amazon, and the vine of death. His life story inspires courage and dreams through many delicious hours of non-stop reading.

This review is from: Return to La Paz: Tales of Travel, Meditation and Ayahuasca (Paperback)
At age thirteen, Reissmann is liberated from the confinement behind the Berlin wall. This experience launches him on a steep trajectory for escape that has him on adventures that would make the hands of most hardy travellers begin to sweat. His succinct and poignant satire begins to unravel as he disappears further into the jungles of South America, and further into his own subconscious, ultimately emerging reconstructed, as someone quite different. His exotic and extreme experiences form a prism of destruction and creation through which we can all see our own lives. It's a compelling read and a universal story.

"The enchanted journey",
By arisa lafond (iquitos, peru) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Return to La Paz: Tales of Travel, Meditation and Ayahuasca (Paperback)
Reissmann takes the reader on an exciting journey through the mysterious jungles of Brazil and Peru, through his mystical experiences with ayahuasca as he - and the reader - adventures into the unknown. It was an enchanting journey; one in which I felt I was living vicariously through his own experiences, with a surprise always waiting for me around the corner. Reissmann has a beautiful way of conveying his story by spinning an intricate web of ideas, philosophies, and teachings together. He is an inspiring and talented writer. I immensely enjoyed reading this true tale!

This review is from: Return to La Paz: Tales of Travel, Meditation and Ayahuasca (Paperback)
What an adventure, I couldn`t put down the book until I got to chapter Return to La Paz. The language is incredibly funny and easy to follow, even for a non-native English speaker, like myself. I could still find the German common speech behind some of his words. Honest and open as Tom describes his experiences to go out into the world, to understand, to experience and to learn. So he finds a higher self (or himself) through hallucigenes, but not at the party, no in the jungle, where nature is pure, where he finds the connection within.
Going with the flow by following the inner guidance on an adventurous journey through the jungles of Brazil, the mountains of Peru and the desert of Bolivia. What a beautiful message, I would like to recommend Return to La Paz to everyone who loves to travel, who feels we are all beings of one, to know there is a way to enlightenment in a fun way and a connection to god. Thanks for sharing. Nicola from Austria
