4.0 out of 5 stars I am a HUGE Simba's Pride fan and this soundtrack ROCKS!
Really cool songs, although "My Lullaby" and "One of Us" could've used more work. I LOVE "Love Will Find A Way" and "We Are One"! Liz Callaway has such a great voice! I agree with the person who said they wished "Warthog Rhapsody" was on this CD. (They called it "Warthog Philosophy" but it's really called...

2.0 out of 5 stars A few good songs, mostly rehashed Disney fluff
As big a fan as I am of The Lion King (and Disney music in general), I must say that this soundtrack is quite substandard. The music from the film is, fo the most part, not catchy or unique; the supplemental music 'inspired by the film' has serious problems (a few of them are just Lebo M's pitiful attempt to broaden his listening group, as they have nothing to do...

4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's not the Lion King, but then what is?, December 8, 1998

Talk about damning with faint praise...sure, it's not the masterful work that TLK is, but it's one heck of a sequel. 'We Are One' and 'Upendi' are wonderfully warm and fun pieces, and Zira's 'My Lullaby' is delightfully cruel. And talk about a miracle; they actually managed to change 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' from an annoying piece of dreck into a cool, groovin' version of same.

My only critique is that I wish they (the filmmakers) had found a way to use 'The Warthog Philosophy' in the soundtrack. (The song's a riot and can be found on Rhythm of the Pride Lands.)

5.0 out of 5 stars This album hasn't stopped playing since I purchased it!, September 29, 1998
This review is from: Return To Pride Rock: Songs Inspired By Disney's The Lion King II - Simba's Pride (Audio CD)
If you liked the original Lion King soundtrack (and who didn't), then you'll love this new album "Return to Pride Rock." There's much variety here. From the hip-sounding "Upendi" to the slow-but-powerful "Love Will Find a Way" to the inspirational "We Are One," you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be inspired! When I listen to it, I'm reminded of how I feel when I listen to the original Lion King Soundtrack: good. I love the different African-sounding rhythms and chants that blend perfectly with the songs, and Angelique Kidjo's performance of "We Are One" is truly pleasant to the ear! A worthy successor to the throne! Disney's done it again! Children and adults alike will enjoy this new musical addition to The Lion King universe!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of my favourite soundtrack, but why there was no score of the movie?, March 30, 2006

When I watched the movie, I found that the music in it was very enchanted, every song in this movie was so fit for every plot, especially the songs "We Are One" "One of Us" and "Love Will Find A Way". There're also some beautiful songs which weren't from the movie, they felt like African music. I love "Song for the Children" and "She Believes in You". The scores of the movie were wonderful too, especilly which came up when Kovu and Kiara escaped from the river full of crocodiles. But I was very, very, very pity that there was no score in this soundtrack! Why? The soundtrack of "Bambi-2" was like this, only a little scores in it! Can Disney do better in the soundtracks?

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome /variety of music, January 15, 1999
This review is from: Return To Pride Rock: Songs Inspired By Disney's The Lion King II - Simba's Pride (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is awesome! My sister was listening to it, and wow, I didn't know what it was then, but the songs are so great. There are "slow" songs, i guess u can say, but also jumpier songs. This is an awesome soundtrack for anything, especially a rainy/snowy day. GET iT!

4.0 out of 5 stars It could've been done better..., November 13, 1998

While the TLK soundtrack has yet to leave my stereo, this one can come and go. While the music was okay to listen to, it seemed to be pushing it in the movie.

You could definately feel the difference without Elton John and Tim Rice. The music was all basically the same thing.

While the music will grow on you after a while, you really have to be a fan of TLK to buy the CD.

This review is from: Return To Pride Rock: Songs Inspired By Disney's The Lion King II - Simba's Pride (Audio CD)
The songs on this CD are not as great as the previous Lion King, but if you're a Lion King fan, please pick this one up.

My favorite songs on here are:

He Lives in You
Upendi
She Believes in You
Song of the Children
We Are One (by Angelique)
I Want to See the Moon
The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Lebo M.) -a major improvement in my honest opinion

5.0 out of 5 stars The Whole Lion King 2 Soundtrack and More!, October 24, 2009

This review is from: Return To Pride Rock: Songs Inspired By Disney's The Lion King II - Simba's Pride (Audio CD)
When I purchased this CD, I was expecting it to be songs based off of songs from the movie. As it turned out, it had all the songs included from The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride soundtrack plus other songs that were also very good. I don't know why this album was discontinued, but I really enjoyed it. I would recommend this album to any Lion King Fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christmas Present!, December 26, 1998
This review is from: Return To Pride Rock: Songs Inspired By Disney's The Lion King II - Simba's Pride (Audio CD)
I saw the movie in October, was really amazed with some of the songs (He Lives in You and One of Us to be specific) and wanted the soundtrack really bad. I asked my older sister if she would get it for me, and here I am, writing a review on the day I got it: December 25! I am still moved by the song "One of Us" and "He Lives in You" is a relaxing piece, in a loud sort of way. Then there are the songs inspired by the CD from tracks 7-12, which are awesome themselves. The only reason I've given this 4 out of 5 stars is because they include a new version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", which I always hated in the first place.
