I do believe in reincarnation, but am always skeptical of people claiming to be famous in past lives. The author's claim to be the reincarnation of John Adams immediately made me wary. There have been more slave collars than crowns to wear throughout human history. Why does no one claim to be a pig farmer? I know the author addressed this in his own 5-star review, but it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Is Everyone Famous in a Past Lifetime?, July 25, 2004
This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
A prior reviewer criticized Return of the Revolutionaries because many of the subjects were famous in past lives. In truth, most people are not famous in prior lifetimes. In researching objective evidence of reincarnation, though, for a person to be found in a historical record, they must have had some impact on society. As such, there is a selection bias in cases that can be researched. If the person was not of some repute in a prior era, there would not be a historic record.

Several independently researched cases in Return of the Revolutionaries do not involve famous people. These include the cases of Penney Peirce/Alice Cary, Robert Snow/Carroll Beckwith and cases researched by Ian Stevenson, MD, at the University of Virginia. These Stevenson cases include Suzanne Ghanem/Hannah Monsour and Daniel Jurdi/Rashid Kaddege.

Further, Neale Donald Walsh, author of the Conversations with God series, is identified as a little known minister in Boston. A spirit guide channeled through Kevin Ryerson made this past life match involving Mr. Walsch. A record of this minister was subsequently found and facial features and personality traits matched. Mr. Walsch subsequently agreed to be featured as a reincarnation case in Revolutionaries.

Rather than criticizing the use of a medium in this work, one must conclude that the number of seemingly accurate matches made by Kevin Ryerson's spirit guide makes this spirit guide a valuable resource. Only close minded individuals, who do not look at the reincarnation cases with an open mind and heart, would summarily reject the use of someone like Kevin Ryerson.

There are reasons why people believe they are someone famous, and why psychics tell people they were someone famous, in prior lifetimes. These include the following:

1. Landmark Associations-Most people who think that they are someone famous, or who have been told by a psychic that they are a famous personage, are not the famous person in question. Rather, the famous person acts as a landmark for the era. For example, someone who resonates with Cleopatra was not necessarily the queen, but rather, this person may have simply lived in Egypt during that time, they may have been a servant to Cleopatra, or perhaps even a relative.

Since the person or psychic cannot come up with the name of this individual in the past lifetime, the name that represents the lifetime symbolically, i.e., Cleopatra, is drawn upon. In general, getting accurate names and historical data is the most difficult thing to get in regressions and in psychic readings. Images and general location, time of a past lifetime are easier to access.

2. Guidance Incarnations--People do have spiritual guides, who can influence people on the earth plane. Generally, guides have a karmic relationship with the person. In prior lifetimes, the spirit guide may have been a family member, teacher or close friend when both individuals were incarnate. For example, an individual may have been an art student of Leonardo da Vinci. In this lifetime, da Vinci may be acting as a guide to this person, who is again an artist. The person my get inspiration from da Vinci and even think he or she is da Vinci, but it is not the case. In a true reincarnation case, the person would have to look like Da Vinci, have the same personality traits, passions and karmic group around them.

A reviewer also argues that the research is not scientific. The reviewer failed to mention that the limitations of the research are discussed in the book and the intent is that research involving hard science will follow. In addition, it should be noted that several people of genius caliber, including neurosurgeon Norm Shealy, who invented the TENS unit, Kary Mullis, who won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and Dean Brown, a physicist who worked with Albert Einstein at Princeton, support the reincarnation research found in Revolutionaries.

Finally, one must keep in mind that great social change and benefit that objective evidence of reincarnation can bring. This evidence shows that people can change religious, ethic and racial affiliation from lifetime to lifetime. If people realize that one can be born Jewish in one lifetime and Muslim or Christian in another, then conflicts based on these differences would dissolve.

A case in point involves Barbro Karlen, who has had memories since childhood of being Anne Frank (the Anne Frank/Barbro Karlen case can be reviewed at www.johnadams.net). Barbro was born into a Christian family in contemporary times. I like to point out that if 60 years ago, the German people knew that one could be born Jewish in one lifetime and Christian in another, then there could never have been a Holocaust.

This is why research on objective evidence of reincarnation is so important and why it will eventually transform the world in a positive way.

5.0 out of 5 stars important research on Reincarnation and American destiny, May 31, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
Superbly researched and written by a brilliant and versatile medical doctor, this book can be expected to make history and be recognized as a classic in its genre. While there are no new concepts involved, the application of science, religion, intuition and logic together enabled the accomplishment of what could never have been achieved by such applied separately. More than seventy cases of living persons, many who are widely recognized today, are included in this work. Bill Clinton, Al Gore, George W. Bush, Jesse Ventura, Oprah Winfrey, Ross Perot, Ralph Nader, John and Robert Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Martin Luther King, Jr., are among the reincarnated revolutionaries.

Here is a book that rests upon an all encompassing concept found in the world's great religions; that whatsoever a man shall sow, that shall he also reap. At the same time, it melts away the basis for racial prejudice and religious prejudice and makes irrational all the exclusive conditions that various religions impose upon their followers to ensure their salvation. It verifies the Golden Rule as Natural Law in operation.

Even more remarkably, it offers evidence that must transform our understanding of heredity. It provides a basis to recognize that our character traits, natural abilities, artistic talents and inclinations are not the product of fortunate or unfortunate combinations of genes but are entirely our own creation and are preexisting to any particular life that we have in the earth. This is an Ancient Wisdom teaching that has been on record through out all time. This understanding transforms the concept of DNA from its being the source of characteristics of the individual to its being the composite result of the thoughts and actions of the individual soul-entity down through the centuries.

How can a book about the reappearance by reincarnation of the Founding Fathers of America, the revolutionaries, possibly be associated with the foregoing statements?

Science is based upon probabilities. Computer science provides a basis to examine an hypothesized probability and correlate vast data to establish it as an aspect of Natural Law or dismiss it. The accurate preservation of physical appearances through photography, in combination with the computer's capacity for storing data and making vast accumulations of records instantly accessible, is the basis for the existence of this crucially important book. The combination of a brilliant mind, a lawyer's ability to build a sound case, a broad background of scholarship regarding the subject matter, an open mind and exceptional capacity for reasoning, in addition to his exceptionally developed sensitivity to respond to guidance by intuition, has enabled Dr. Semkiw to produce a book that has established the above statements as matters of Natural Law.

This is not to suggest that there is anything pedantic or tedious about the presentation of the material. It is fascinating reading and for many people it will be difficult to put this book down. The opening portion is devoted to information concerning how the author came to dedicate himself to write such a controversial work and to his over view of the subject of reincarnation. He does this astutely, presenting such in a highly readable manner. Then follows his perception that individuals return in bodies that are similar to those of their last appearance in the earth and how they are inclined to again associate in families and socially. He disarmingly describes his own reactions to learning of his identity as the return of President John Adams. By his forthright presentation of his thoughts, he becomes like a personal acquaintance to his reader.

It is a great adventure to be taken along with Doctor Semkiw as he unravels each of the cases of reincarnation. The implications of his findings are momentous for our civilization. The returned founders of our nation are now dedicated to restoring the ideals that it was founded upon and contributing to its spiritual awakening. Accurate knowledge of the Natural Laws governing our lives will provide the incentive for the most able, the most intelligent, the most ambitious, the most energetic, of our citizens to dedicate their lives to serve the best interest of their fellow man and posterity.

This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
Return of the Revolutionaries is a look into reincarnation. If everyone knew that they were here before and would return again then maybe everyone would be kinder, more compassionate, and much less violent towards each other. Dr. Semkiw then uses physical appearance (along with other comparisons) to match American revolutionaries to present day people. Some of these people are famous today. Others are not. I found the reincarnations fascinating and believable, and feel this book is an eye-opener to say the least.

5.0 out of 5 stars A deftly written and engaging presentation, June 12, 2003
This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
Return Of The Revolutionaries: The Case For Reincarnation And Soul Gro-ups Reunited by Walter Semkiw (Occupational Medicine Physician and the Founder of the Pluto Project) makes a strong and compelling case for reincarnation, claiming that key figures of the American Revolution have come back to us as modern-day figures ranging from such as Oprah Winfrey to Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Jesse Ventura, Jesse Jackson, -- and even himself as the present-day incarnation of John Adams. A deftly written and engaging presentation embracing the concept that all of us have been "the other" in race and/or gender during the transition of lifetimes, Return Of The Revolutionaries is an engaging read concerning the metaphysical issues of life cycles and eternal karma.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Compelling Read, July 14, 2003

This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
The most interesting book I've read this year! The photos speak for themselves, but add the author's narratives about the continuity of interests, symbols, and even writing styles among some of the cases and it's a book you can't put down. The cases featuring Shirley MacLaine, Ralph Nader, and Marianne Williamson are particularly fascinating.

For anyone interested in eliminating the violence that is fueled by differences in religion and race, read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Objective Evidence/ Practical Application Of Reincarnation, April 16, 2006
This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)

Hello my name is Kevin Ryerson I am a colleague of Dr. Walter Semkiw and my work is mentioned in the book Return of the Revolutionaries ,the topic is the practical uses of the objective evidence of reincarnation as a tool for spiritual growth. The following is in appreciation based on the content of Dr Semkiws' book, I was honored to participate in with Dr. Walter Semkiw author of Return of the Revolutionaries. Jeff Keene a person who shares a remarkable story of his past life during the American Civil War is another person and a case in Dr.Semkiws book who tells his own story in "Some One Else's Yesterday" reviewed by Dr. Jeffery Mishlove PHD. As you proceed through Walters' book you will read information that is intended to ask questions about our Planet and its various cultures and what it would be like as objective evidence of reincarnation is documented by the scientific method. Walter is very clear that further scientific research is needed and that the data represented in the book is qualitative evidence. I hope that you add Dr.Semkiws' classic research on the subject material of reincarnation to your collection.

One of the matters of reincarnation to keep in mind is that out side of the West reincarnation is not only a given,it is an applied value system in a wide range of cultural areas. One of these is the use of past life profiles in medicine, psychology, spiritual practice, occupational choice etc. Walter Semkiw in a reference in the book makes a heart felt statement that reincarnation maybe used as a tool to guide nations and humanity to a more enlightened way of conduct.

It is my proposal that reincarnation is already a provable phenomena and that we are in a position to apply this natural human resource to the betterment of individuals and society. I invite folks to look at societies and cultures who already make open use of reincarnation. There are many such as Tibet, Aboriginal Peoples,India, etc. I am hoping that there can be a conversation based on the premise that in the Majority World reincarnation is already a practiced value system. On a daily basis billions of persons practice cultural rituals that demonstrate the validity of this value system the same way that every day there are scientific experiments that hold together our world view. In Tibet ,India,Peru,China, Japan etc. there are thousands of oracles, doctors, engineers, artists, architects working with such a world view in daily practice. It is not my intention to be the sole intellectual or spiritual arbitrator of this premise. It is my hope that as we gather ideas, rituals, technology, wisdom, healing etc. we will be able to reach a level of complexity where a natural synergy will occur and we will be able to do some serious reality engineering(the re imaging of our society and culture).

I would like to use a type visionary anthropology or Anthropological Futurism to see what Modern Western culture would look like.I am also a fan of Rupert Sheldrake and his "little science" vs "big science" as out lined in his book "Seven Experiments That Could Change the World". We are certainly not lacking precedents for this. Japan is a good example. I spent 10 years,60 days out of the year, working in Japan as an expert intuitive. The Japanese people are wonderful hosts and are well grounded in their unique culture of Shinto/ Buddhism (not all Japanese are of this religious persuasion there are Christians, Atheists, Muslim, etc).I am certain some of you have traveled to Japan. My experience of the Japanese is that they consider Buddhism to their international religion and adhere to a wide range of practices and beliefs all of which acknowledge reincarnation as playing a role. Shinto is conceived of as the National religion and is a complex system of ancient Nature Gods and Goddesses. Historically many of the Shinto and Buddhist temples have existed side by side for many generations. It was my observation that the Japanese people had a wonderful way of synergising many of the practices and rituals, particularly in private households involving ancestors, family, or local deities. It is this type of observation that I hope will be shared here.
The number one concern or question that I worked on with folks in Japan on is who were they before, what was their Karma and what were the talents that could serve them and their families. They were sometimes excited to learn about past lives outside of Japan but were always concerned in what way that might make then less Japanese(gaijin). There was some objectivity in the lives that were discovered for often the folks had traveled or spent an extensive amount of time in the countries of a past incarnation(usually work or school or sometimes a passion for the place of past origin). Folks from Tokyo were usually quite comfortable with lives outside of the country rural folks were more shy.The people of Osaka loved the the idea of lives that were adventures and involved lives as successful merchants ( often around Venice Italy). These of course are generalizations. Using such cultures as a frame work of reference I would invite folks to add their vision,as to what they would imagine this emerging society would look like, in say 2025.

My own contribution to Dr. Semkiws' work was to point out that we may now be at a point in research on reincarnation that we may begin to apply this knowledge in useful ways such as in Integrative Medicine. I point out that the greater population of the planet already accepts the belief in reincarnation and that the west is only now reaching a similar conclusion through the use of the scientific method. I am an Intuitive (trance channel) in the tradition of Edgar Cayce. That in addition to working with Dr.Semkiw I have worked with scientist such as Dr. William Kautz a former staff research scientist at SRI , Dr. Kautz book "Opening the Inner Eye" documents the use of expert intuitives in research on earth quakes, AIDS, SIDS, to name a few, and of course reincarnation.
I have begun to work with the positive cases with a process that is called Biographical Futurism. I use the case of Andrew Jackson/John Kerry (observe the portrait of Jackson on the 20 dollar bill) to point out how events in Jackson's biography were predictive of events in the Senator's Presidential campaign(for instance Jackson/Kerry were both war heroes ran against sons of a previous presidents and appointed the Senator from North Carolina as their running mates etc.) I also pointed out that the West placed more value on Karma than Dharma (service) and almost always thought of Karma as punitive. I made reference to the concept that we reincarnate to grow from our emotional intelligence and to self actualize through our eight human needs (as in Buhdism) this combined with the method of Biographic Futurism will allow us to develop even more clear life maps as a source of guidance in our near future. ***A few quotes " If Kevin Ryerson is acting he deserves an Oscar that has not been invented yet." Shirley Maclaine " Imagine my surprise when Tom Mc Phereson (Tom revealed to me his actual family name is MacFerguson from the County Kerry) spoke in the Celtic dialect of my grandparents."D.R. Irish Citizen "Whatever Kevins spirit guides maybe they had to be alive at the time they say to have the historical knowledge they have of my country M.S. Egyptologist ; Egyptian Citizen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book - a real eye opener, May 17, 2005
This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
I'm a software engineer who met Dr. Semkiw after experiencing my own past life memories and identifications which are documented on my site - www.infinitesouls.com. In my case, it was a spontaneous recognition of people with whom I've reincarnated (and no, we are not all famous). I had already identified my group when I found Dr. Semiw's work while reviewing photos of Jeff Keene. The reason I researched this was that, at first, I had a hard time believing that this was happening to me, of all people. Suddenly having past life memories can be somewhat daunting - particularly when one has no prior consideration of reincarnation. So, as a person who has experienced the memories and emotions of past lives firsthand, I can honestly say that I find Dr. Semkiw's cases not only plausible, but quite probable. In addition, the "coincidences" and similarities detailed in many of the cases in this book are exactly the same types of synchronicities and parallels that I and others have found - prior to knowing anything about Dr. Semkiw's work.

One reason for someone to look at all the data presented here and still be completely skeptical (or at times even angry) is that they may simply be stuck in old ways of thinking which are more comfortable to them. Which is fine - for them. For others, Dr. Semkiw's book is a godsend. I believe his book will be helpful to many people who have an interest in past lives and how they affect the present, as well as to those interested in consciousness and human evolution in general. Even without reading every case in full, the side-by-side pictures alone make this book worth having, and will raise some interesting questions about where we are from - and where we're going.

I have never been particularly interested in reincarnation but I found this to be a fascinating book to read. It has all sorts of famous people...I find myself going back to it time and time again to check on someone I think might be in it and I missed. Walter Semkiw has done lots of research and whether you were to believe it or not it is a very entertaining book. I will always keep mine to refer back to.

5.0 out of 5 stars History Comes Alive, April 20, 2009
This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
When I first heard Jeffrey Mishlove talk about Dr. Semkiw's identification of himself as the reincarnation of William James, I was so intrigued that I asked Mishlove to let me muscle test whether or not his energy system resonated with being James in a past life. It did, which convinced me of the accuracy of this correlation, which Mishlove himself prefers to call an "Archetypal Synchronistic Resonance."
This book brings history to life with an "inside story" of the American revolution, presenting both the strengths and the weaknesses of the major figures. One case history that particularly impressed me was Semkiw's identification of Michael Jackson as the reincarnation of Eston Hemmings, a very talented musician who was the illegitimate son of Thomas Jefferson and his slave Sally Hemmings. Semkiw pointed out that Jefferson, along with many other founding fathers, did not truly believe that all men are created equal, but that "all white men are created equal."
Semkiw repeats his main point over and over that when we truly accept that we incarnate in many different cultures and races, religious wars will vanish. He shows how the revolutionaries have reincarnated as today's spiritual leaders who are bringing awareness of the unity of all life. While I found the repetition of points from previous chapters a bit annoying, it did drive home the points and would have been even more helpful if I had been reading the book over a long period of time, when I needed my memory refreshed, rather than over the short time in which I devoured the contents!
As a psychotherapist who investigates the origin of emotional problems, I have been amazed to witness the past life stories my clients find which not only explain their current phobias or emotional impasses, but also release their problems in a quantum upward shift in functioning. Though I was raised in a traditional Christian church that opposed the theory of reincarnation, seeing its power to heal has won me over!

This review is from: Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited (Paperback)
Return of the Revolutionaries is an excellent read! It is full of truth and history and also has validation. I found myself going slowly at the end of the book just so I wouldn't finish it as fast! The case histories have been researched thoroughly by Dr. Semkiw and he also has Ahtun Re to validate accuracies. The stories ring true, in my heart, and it is not a surprise that these souls have returned to continue their helpfulness to mankind in their current incarnations. The people who give this book a low rated review, are just young souls that are ignorant and have not realized the truth of the world and the universal human. But it is exactly these type of people that need to read this type of book, and it is just icing on the cake for those of us that already know the truth. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!
