Excellent final document, November 25, 2007
This review is from: The Return Of Wayne Douglas (Audio CD)
This final hunk of brilliance by the truly brilliant and subtly influential Sir Doug ranks among his finest. It is a pure country record through and through and I believe it says alot about where he was in life when he recorded it. It contains better versions of many songs he already had recorded over the years along with a handful of great new swinging originals. He also throws in a tune by his old buddy Bob Dylan and a sweet tribute to the late great Leon Payne (which was also recorded by Hank Williams). Personal favorite is "Huggin' Thin Air". It's a shame that Doug Sahm will probably never get the recognition he truly deserves.
There is probably not one musician in Texas that can't call him an influence. RIP Sir Douglas.
