This is by far one of the Winan's finest. When I first heard this Cd/cassette in 1990, I was a babe in Christ. The songs truly ministered to me. How can anyone not like this. When you Cry, A Friend, and It's gonna be alright soothed my spirit. I lost the cassette years ago, and happened to hear a cut recently, I didn't rest until I purchased the CD again, this is a must have, if you like the Winans.

Grew up on this group. Love them then and love them now. Own the "Best of" Collection but you can never compile the best on one CD. For those Winans fans you know what I'm talking about. These brothers are music genuises especially Marvin Winans. Like Stevie Wonder they were ahead of their time. My favorite song on this album shares the message of all times. "Together We Stand" opens up the eyes to all race,religion, and creed that its time to come together if we want to see a change in this world regardless of background. Entire album is great including the celebrity appearances such as Stevie Wonder, Teddy Riley, and Aaron Hall. I like the flavor the cameos add to this album. If you're into mid-tempo music this is the album to purchase.

I can't possibly believe that some people would dis this CD. I've been into Gospel, r&b and hip hop for as long as i can remember, and my best song in the whole wide world is on this CD - A FRIEND.From the earliest days of Commisioned and Winans, Michael Peace and Bernard Wright, all the way to Winans Phase II, Dawkins and Gospel Gangstaz, no other song has ever managed to knock that one off. Throw in Together we stand, When I cry, Wherever i go, and all the others, and this CD is definately unbeatable. It's 2000 and i'm waiting for their next release like i've never waited for a CD before. Winans - Keep it coming!

When I first heard this album in 90 - 91, I was going through a rough time (worst in my life). The album's lyrics ministered to my hurting soul. I think it is one of the best gospel albums I have ever heard. It's upbeat and contemporary sound can reach out to both old and new. It shouts JESUS and His love for us. The Winans are true luminaries. This album is must give gift to anyone struggling or going through things.

I remember my mom playing this CD when I was a kid in the early 90s and had to get it for my own gospel music collection. A Friend and When You Cry are two of my favorites! Highly recommend this one!

I was very happy when I discovered that Amazon had this CD. I've been looking for it for yrs. I also liked the fact that they kept me updated with what was going on with my shipment and I got it in a timely manner. Listening to the Winans brought back great childhood memories of my brothers and I sitting around the radio (when cassette tapes were available)singing along with them.

This album really makes me feel GOOD!!It definitely moves me... It's CHOCK-FULL of comforting/consoling songs for the "heavy-hearted"Christian.."It's time"is a clarion call to all saints that a powerful and positive change is in order in anticipation of Christs'return!! "A Friend talks about how Jesus is the ONLY "friend" one can TRULY depend on....." Your other friends are discussed on this song thusly:"The way they SMILE in your face and "talk"behind your back,they're NOT like the friends of old!!" Jesus' "loyalty"to us is also discussed:"He's ALWAYS there,He's EVERYWHERE,all you have to do is CALL Him!!" "Free" is a song of PARAMOUNT importance to me personally,because before I surrendered my(wretched/wicked)life to Jesus,I was in a STIFLING/tormentous BONDAGE of sin that I could NEVER have mustered the strength and will to liberate MYSELF from(and believe me,I was REALLY trying)without enlisting the aid of Jesus and the Holy Spirit!! This songs lyrics ring so VERY true when specifying just what Christ frees you from:"Free FROM:a life of sinning,free TO:a NEW beginning.. I LOVE this line:And I don't want no "chains"HOLDING me,I'm FREE!!" This following line from this song is MY personal testimony of my present life,now that Jesus has set me free:"I don't TALK like I used to TALK,I dont walk like I USED to walk,I got a NEW"song"I'm "singing"!!" this informative song begins with:"I was about to DROWN,in a"sea"of SIN,Then along came Jesus and"took me in!" "No need to worry 'cause it won't be LONG,We gotta keep holding on!!" "I was LOST and so alone,never had anything to call my own,'til the Lord came down and set me FREE,Once I was "BLIND"but now I"SEE",HE SET ME free!!""When you cry"so eloquently tells of Jesus' love for us,that the song nearly causes me to cry(tears of JOY)as it"talks"to me from Jesus'perspective of how He SHARES with us every ounce of pain(as well as the happiness)
we experience as we go through this life!!"When YOU cry,I'm right THERE by your SIDE!!" "When you're SAD,You're NEVER sad ALONE!!"My favorite line of this song is where it says:"Though my house is set"on-high",doesn't mean that I don't HEAR you!!"Jesus reminds us of one of His UNBREAKABLE promises with:When you cry,said I'd"bottle-up"EVERY tear,when you cry,it will ONLY draw me NEAR!!" "Gonna be alright" comforts me more than ANY song that I've ever heard!!It tells of how the trials we experience(though painful)are all apart of Gods' plan to make and mold us to His specifications,for the future He has customized just for us!! These are some powerful words:"It's gonna be alright,it's just the way He PLANNED it!!" I love this reassuring line:"KNOW the DARKEST night,is right before the break of LIGHT,we'll be just FINE,GOD'S on OUR side,we WILL survive!!" These following words,inspired by a verse in the Bible tell us that God "has our back":"Yea,though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death,I WON'T fear,because You're THERE!!" "Your rod and staff,they COMFORT me." "Goodness and mercy FOLLOW me,and I'll dwell in Your"house"EVERMORE!!" This truthful message is emphatically sang:"All you have to do is HOLD ON!!" "Everyday the same" is a beautiful song about how Heaven is going to be nothing but peace and joy UNCHANGING!! EVERY single day will be like this,and there'll be no need to wonder about what the next day will bring!! That is one COMFORTING thought if I ever heard one!! It was a stroke of GENIUS to include Jesus'parting words to the Disciples concerning the promise of Heaven to the believer on this(inspired/annointed)song:"I go AWAY to PREPARE you a "place". "Where I am,you may come TOO!" "And if I go away,I'll RETURN again someday,JUST to PROOVE My love to you!!" Jesus continues with His promise:"Take you to a land,NO sadness there,where there's NEVER a worry,NEVER a care!!" I enjoyed this totally true/accurate description of Heaven"Where there'll be no RAIN,the weather will never CHANGE,FOREVER we will REMAIN,everyday the SAME!!" "Imagine people who smile,and NEVER sigh,where there's ALWAYS"hello"and NEVER"goodbye!!" "Don't leave me"is a very passonate song where a Christian is making a desperate plea to God to continue to forgive him for his shortcomings,even though he admits that he isn't actually worthy of any more forgiveness!! So he's pleading for the Lord to continue to show him grace at least one more time:"Don't LEAVE me!" "Together we stand"is a song that I personally suspect is addressing the problem of(bickering)"denominations" in the Body of Christ!!(In the Bible the(rhetorical)question is asked:"Is Christ DIVIDED?!?" This line really made me think this way:"Let's build a BRIDGE and TEAR DOWN the"walls!" and"Let us respond,to our"brothers"call.." these next lines also cemented my suspicion about what this song was directed at:"Our opinions may not be the SAME,there's so many things that aren't,hand in hand we can form a chain,that NEVER can be torn apart!!" "In life,there are times we'll DISAGREE,doesn't mean that I don't CARE,I need YOU,and YOU need ME..." I LOVE these emotion -laced lines:"OH,how we NEED,one another,OH!! "OH,we can't live WITHOUT each other OH!!" "You're my sister,you're my brother,I NEED you,EVERYDAY of my life,I NEED you!!" "OH,how I hurt when you're hurting,OH!!" "OH,How I CRY when you're burdened,OH!! "Personal"is a song that centers on a Christian who cares so much about the needs of those around him that he finds that he has always neglected his own needs..This following confession of his sums it all up:"It's NOT my father,my brother or my mother,but it's ME,standing in the NEED of prayer!!" "Wherever I Go"is a song where a(very wise saint(who knows' that he NEEDS Jesus and His Holy Spirit every second of every day)is beseeching Jesus to REMAIN very active and involved in his life,no matter WHERE he finds himself on any given day...This saint implores the Lord:"WHEREVER I go,let Your Spirit FOLLOW me!!" This saint goes on to declare that whether he be in a desert,a valley or walking alone in the wilderness,that he'll NEVER falter as long as Jesus is there(to strengthen him)!! This song has a very TRUE and POWERFUL message,and the music on this song perfectly reflects the SERIOUSNESS of this saints' request to Jesus!!

I had to have this one. Everyone should have a personal relationship with the FATHER, and this is a explosive CD. Share this with yourself!

This CD is timeless. Released many years ago, it still has sound of the present day. The message in the music inspires then and ever so much now. The song "Friends" is just a geat testimony.
