1.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for...., August 15, 2001

This review is from: Take 5, Volume 4 (Under the Knife, Adam's Gift, Return to Yesterday, Everything But Time, Marriage Diamond Style) (Paperback)
In this case, you're paying for 5 abridged novels. You'd be better off paying for the whole things. The main story here, by the "big name" author in the collection, Tess Gerritsen, is Under the Knife. Harlequin rereleased that book just last year. I can't believe they're trying to get people to buying it again! Here, the story has been cut down to about 80 pages. There's a reason why Gerritsen wrote a 250 page book. They cut two thirds of the story out--you can't do that without losing a lot, and Under the Knife does not come off well in the shorter version. I was disgusted by how they butchered what used to be a good story.

I hadn't read the other four books, Adam's Story and Return to Yesterday by Annette Broadrick and Everything but Time and Marriage, Diamond Style by Mary Lynn Baxter. They had to be better originally than how they were presented here. I would recommend this book only to readers who are looking to read inferior versions of their favorite authors' works. Otherwise, look up the real things. Under the Knife might cost more by itself, but you get the whole story and it's a lot better.
