More About the Author

Of Filipino and Norwegian descent, Fredrick S. dela Cruz has lived in Southern California since his childhood. He and his wife have an energetic and playful boxer dog as part of their family that they adopted through a rescue.

He has a remarkable heritage from Norway that took root in America, when his ancestors' family - resilient and faithful - immigrated to the U.S. in 1884. As their ship set sail for the U.S., they had four dollars to their name. When they arrived, they only had three cents left. Nevertheless, they survived, and they prospered.

His love for writing began in his early teens, and his formative life experiences are founded upon his Christian faith that took root in his college years.

He has developed a keen insight for assessing people's personalities, desires, and motivations. Carrying this into his writing, it gives him the ability to create compelling characters and plots that will take you through captivating journeys.

This book caught my interest.

I'm glad I got it because I really loved it!

This is a one-of-a-kind supernatural story. There are several things going on in its intricate storyline (each having their own mysteries) and they all tie in together very well. I loved the main characters and the dynamic between them. You'll end up realizing this is really about an epic tale of good and evil and the unknown. The main characters have their internal struggles with who they truly are versus what they've become.

A hint for you as you read: you've got to pay attention to the headings at the beginning of certain chapters and sections. They tell you the timeframe of what you're about to read. There's something really interesting happening with time. It makes this book really unique.
Keep reading ... You'll understand what's going on.

And the last chapters are so very good - exciting and unpredictable!

Hope the next book in the series comes out soon!

I picked this up from a recommendation of a friend. This is supposed to be the first book of the Retuning Blaze series. It's an interesting read! I haven't read anything like this book-it's quite unique. The story has elements of the supernatural, and you're kept guessing on the main character's true identity. For those looking for a unique and intriguing fiction novel, with Christian themes, and multi-layered subplots, give this book a try!

This is a rather unusual book, and in a way it made me think of the detective novels of the forties but beefed up to an epic scale.. The opening pages of the story may be a little hard going, for he main opponents were only described, and remained thus for the first three-quarter of the book.
However, as the plot unfolds the book becomes very interesting and exiting. There are a good number of subplots, and the reader will forever remain guessing..
I really enjoyed this book.

I'm not a book critic. I just like the story line, the characters.
