Editorial Reviews

Review

'Most children have a natural affinity for animals and this book certainly exploits that as Reuben and his dog Barney enjoy a busy and adventurous day on the farm ... There are plently of animals to name and spot, and children can enjoy making their sounds.' -- Early Years Educator, March 2012 'Working on a farm is fun, especially when you do it with your best friend ... Kuiper and de Wolf pack their simple portrait with content, the straightforward text and loose, soft-focus, well-composed illustrations in perfect harmony ... Warm and subtly infectious.' -- Kirkus Review 'The lively pictures are done in saturated colors which reflect a busy day on the farm.' -- Carroll News

About the Author

Nannie Kuiper writes and translates books for young children. She has taught courses and written articles on the subject of child development. She has published many poems for children and has translated the poetry of A.A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh) and C.M. Barker (The Flower Fairies). Alex de Wolf was born in 1958 just south of Amsterdam. A lifelong fan of the Tintin comics, he always intended to become a comic book writer. He studied illustration at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He is married to publisher Martine Schaap, whose name he found irresistible (his name means 'wolf', hers 'sheep'). As well as illustrating many books for children, his dream finally came true when an American magazine publisher asked him to create the comic strip 'Mop and Family'.
