5.0 out of 5 stars Reunion Rankin Family
The Rankin family reunites eight years later and the CD delivers lovely traditional celtic tunes with the harmony that only this family brings to the stage. There are fiddle and piano tracks that John Morris taped before his death. Sunset, written and sung by his daughter Molly, as she plays the guitar while backed up by family members brought tears to my eyes. Molly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Infectious Music
The music has a feel that gets underneath my skin with its excitement and energy. It reminds me of backpacking in the Rockies thanks to a "Stomp" my crew and I attended thanks to its mix of North American folk, country, rock(?) and celtic influences.

To be honest, I bought it for the bonus disk included with this version more so than the main disk. The main...

There are fiddle and piano tracks that John Morris taped before his death. Sunset, written and sung by his daughter Molly, as she plays the guitar while backed up by family members brought tears to my eyes. Molly delivers like her dad and family. The old tunes mixed in with the new find me playing this CD over and over and waiting for the next!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better and Better, July 3, 2007
This review is from: Reunion (Audio CD)
The Rankins have given us beautiful music from their very first CD, but Rankin Family Reunion outshines all the rest. I was afraid we'd never hear from them again as a family after John Morris' death, but not only do we get a new CD with no repeats, but one that shows that their voices and music age and blend like fine Scotch. I hope they never deprive us for so long again. It's a sin to let such talent go unheard.

I am so glad that the Rankin Family is finally back. After the tragedy of losing John Morris, the family stopped recording for several years. This is their first release since then, and there is a haunting maturity to their voices and harmonies. I love this CD, and look forward to more releases from them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Celtic greatness, March 29, 2010
This review is from: Reunion (Dlx) (Audio CD)
The Rankin Family is the obvious choice for pure celtic music unadulterated by commercial input. If you love celtic fiddling and guitar, it is here as well!

To be honest, I bought it for the bonus disk included with this version more so than the main disk. The main disk is fun but seems, by comparison, more subdued.
