Faithfulreader.com:

What kind of testimony to your faith are you
demonstrating in this book? If you are writing fiction, do you write
fiction that is based upon your faith, or that has a message for the
reader? Is your goal to demonstrate your faith in your writing?

Karen Kingsbury: REUNION is the final book in the Redemption Series, a series that follows the Baxter family and their tragedies and triumphs. Faith plays an integral part in the Baxter family, though it demonstrated in a realistic manner. Some characters struggle with God, others are apathetic, and others are very devoted. The combination has a way of touching all readers, wherever they are with their personal walk of faith. One of the most common statements from readers is that the Baxters are very real people. They struggle and get sick, they make mistakes, but always they know that there is Redemption through faith in Christ.

Not every one of my books is evangelistic, with faith as the central
theme. Instead, faith is an element of the stories the way it is with
all people because we are spiritual beings. Whether we are running from
faith, ignorant of it or devoted to God, faith is an element. That's
the way it comes across in my books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written, October 8, 2004
This is the last book in the Redemption series, and it was so beautifully written. The book focused on Ashley and Landon's wedding, Elizabeth's struggle with cancer, and Erin trying to adopt a baby, as well as Dane and how he fit into the Baxter family.

This book showed how much Elizabeth and John truly love each other. They have gone through so much. It is revealed in this book a secret that they shared from before they got married. The 2 stood by each other then and now, through Elizabeth's illness. I loved how Elizabeth managed to stay with the Lord, through her frustration and to the end.

The theme in this book is about reuniting family. That is showed so well, with all of the Baxters gathering for Ashley's wedding and supporting each other through all sorts of trials. This book gives a great example of how families should stick together, as a good family gives each other so much support. I would have loved growing up in this family. They went through so many trials, but they always had each other.

I look forward to reading the Firstborn series, and reading more about Dane.

5.0 out of 5 stars The absolute best, October 27, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I can't remember ever being so moved by a book. The story line was excellent, as with this entire series. I was very satisfied with the resolution, and now look forward eagerly to the spinoff series about to start. Living through the horrible cancer was so real--I identified so much with the mother, even though I've never been close to anyone who died from cancer. I'll never forget this series, and this book in particular. Yes, it was sad, but also showed the reader how to see the underlying joy. Most of all, it teaches a lesson about trusting in God's goodness. I'm Catholic, and my priest always likes to remind us that "God is good all the time, and all the time God is good." This book would serve as a fine example of that kind of faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read the entire series!, August 6, 2004
Start with the first book in this series and read all five! Just make sure you have plenty of time and plenty of tissue (right, akmom1999???) These books aren't preachy or gloomy, but filled with good lessons and hope. They made me want to open my Bible - which is always a good thing. I felt like I knew each member of the Baxter family and am sorry to see the stories end. When you get through with these, read Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series!

Gods will, he told her, is a little like taking a Sunday drive with God behind the wheel. Gods driving. He might turn where you dont expect a turn or go through a valley that feels too dark, her father said. But you dont have to worry about a thing, because youre just the passenger. Whatever happens, God will get you home in the end as long as you let him drive. He patted her on the head. Thats Gods will. "e;

We never own the people in our lives. We love them, yes, but they are on loan from God. We have them for a moment and then theyre gone. Go ahead and grieve, because youll miss Elizabeth. We all will. But while youre grieving, dont get mad at God for the minutes youll miss with Elizabeth. Thank him for the minutes you had. "e;
