Book Description

There are people in this world we pass right by without giving a second thought. They are almost invisible. Yet some of them have amazing stories to tell, if we'd only take the time to listen . . .Aaron Miller was an old, worn-out Vietnam vet, a handyman in a trailer park. Forty years prior, he saved the lives of three young men in the field only to come home from the war and lose everything. But God is a master at finding and redeeming the lost things of life. Aaron is about to be found. And the one who finds him just might find the love of his life as well.Expert storyteller Dan Walsh pens a new tale filled with the things his fans have come to love--forgiveness, redemption, love, and that certain bittersweet quality that few authors ever truly master. Fans old and new will find themselves drawn into this latest story about how God cares for everyone.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I just finished reading Dan Walsh's new book THE REUNION. OHMYGOSH!! I have happy tears running down my face and a warm feeling in my heart. I never expected the ending to this amazing heartfelt story. It was off the charts satisfying!"

From the Back Cover

Everything lost can be found.

Aaron Miller knows a thing or two about loss. He's lost love. Dignity. Second, and even third, chances. Once honored for his heroism, he now lives in near obscurity, working as a handyman in a humble trailer park.

But God is a master at finding and redeeming the lost things of life. Unbeknownst to Aaron, someone is searching for him.

With deep insight into the human heart, consummate storyteller Dan Walsh gently weaves a tale of a life spent in the shadows but meant for the light. Through tense scenes of war and tender moments of romance, The Reunion will make you believe that everyone can get a second chance at life and love.

Review:

"This book has a pretty big cast of characters, but Walsh does it well and, as the storylines collide the reader becomes fully invested in each individual HEA.
"Aaron's humility, born of failure and whitewashed by grace, is almost a tangible thing. A flashback to Vietnam is action-packed and tense with a sense of doom, but in the present, it fuels John's desperation to find Aaron. The romance between Karen and Dave is the sort that lets you feel the butterflies of falling in love right along with them, yet your heart breaks when other men's failures threaten to poison Karen's chance at love.
"With a gift for pulling the heartstrings and encouraging a slow build of tears within his reader, Dan Walsh is quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to storytellers for sweet romance and intricately woven parallel storylines."--USA Today, Happily Ever After

Praise for Dan Walsh

"Dan's books grab your heart and don't let you go until the last page."--Dr. Gary Smalley, bestselling author and speaker

"Walsh [makes] the reader feel like a dear old friend."--RT Book Reviews

"Dan Walsh's novel-within-a-novel is rich with intrigue, history, and romance. Character-driven and wistful . . . a sublime delight that shouldn't be missed."--USA Today on The Discovery

Dan Walsh is the award-winning author of several books, including The Unfinished Gift, The Deepest Waters, and The Discovery. A member of American Christian Fiction Writers, Dan served as a pastor for 25 years. He lives with his wife in the Daytona Beach area, where he's busy researching and writing his next novel.

Romance, Vietnam history, and mystery all packed into a Christian fiction novel. That's a Dan Walsh book, and he has another winner in "The REUNION." It even ends in a December Christmas setting. What's not to like? I expected a good read- got it. I read recently another Walsh book, Deepest Waters, The: A Novel is finalist in the 2012 ACFW Carol Award.
UPDATE-UPDATE "THE DEEPEST WATERS" by Walsh WINS the 2012 Carol Award. Be sure to order it also.
Walsh is one of my favorite rock-solid writers, and I'll be reading anything he ever writes- during my (I'm older) lifetime. An end page ad indicates he's soon teaming with Gary Smalley for a series.

This book's about vet Aaron Miller, Florida trailer park handyman with a past--bad & good. It's about a young son of another vet-killed who intends to make his own contribution honoring Nam's forgotten vets. It's about a pair of siblings who learned to accept a step-dad. It's about some other characters too, all given their own prominence and interest through the writing of Walsh weaving lives of Christian characters in FL and Texas.

The romance by Walsh fits men too, and it's contemporarily believable. I like that, true love, not gush/sex. Nam history recalls accounts of late 1960s TV news war footage. Body counts. A missing person mystery adds suspense enough I did not stop reading- soiled pages eating/reading. Christian heroes. It's all there.

It's Walsh's distinctive conclusions that set him apart from the also-authors. It takes a long time to wrap up the threads of one of his books, so many lives coming into one focus, and then the Walsh `ah-ha' ending. Because I read so many, few books create literal emotion for me. Before "The Reunion" end, I wept---physical tears. Now that's fine fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Reunion September 16, 2012
Format:Paperback
Wow, it's been a good year for some of my favorite authors! For quite some time, I have felt that an author's debut novel is the best one, but some of my favorites are proving me wrong. I have read each of Dan Walsh's books, and while I loved them all, I think I love The Reunion the most. That may be the case for very personal reasons though.

My dad is a Vietnam veteran and my hero. He was a Lieutenant in the Army and served in Vietnam for sixteen months in 1967 and 1968. He was wounded in combat a couple of times, but went right back into battle each time. He then came home and started a family with my mom and went on to become a very successful businessman. Sadly, he is now dealing with the health effects of agent orange exposure, but even through all of that, he is being very brave and I am so proud of him. I knew from reading Dan's previous books that he would perfectly touch of the emotions of veterans and their families in this book and he certainly did.

Aaron Miller represents the best that the United States has to offer. His character is a wonderful example of the greatness that is in all of us and how it is never too late to recover what we think is long gone. I loved this story and just as I expected, it brought me to tears. It was everything I hoped it would be: touching, sentimental, romantic and VERY patriotic. It focuses on the importance of love, family and forgiveness.

If I had to say something not so positive about this book it would be that it might be a bit too mushy, but I didn't care. I wanted a feel-good story and that is exactly what I got. I didn't want a lot of tension or uncertainty, so the mushiness was welcome for me. I would have also liked to see a bit more resolution for Billy. There is more to his story, so perhaps there is a sequel in the future? It would certainly be welcome. Overall, The Reunion is a fantastic book. It filled me with pride, not just for my sweet dad, but also for all the other veterans who have served and for my country.

5.0 out of 5 stars What can I say? It was amazing! September 15, 2012

What more can I say? Another absolutely amazing book from Dan Walsh!

Aaron Miller is the trailer park handyman and hero in disguise. Who has had his share of heartache, and bad decisions that changed his life forever. Will this Vietnam War veteran ever be reunited with the family he lost so many years ago?

There is something about Mr. Walsh's books that I just love. I savor every word, trying to avoid the inevitable event that I know will happen all to soon...Finishing the book. I did not want it to end! I came to love the wonderful characters, who touched my heart. Aaron was such a wonderful hero, selfless and honorable, a little rough around the edges but with a heart of purest gold. I also loved Dave and Karen's story, and how they came together.

Mr. Walsh's story-telling skills are amazing, he truly draws the reader into the story, in a way that makes it so that they never want to leave! I wanted to keep right on reading this book forever, because I loved the story and the characters so much. The characters felt real and compelling.

This is a tale sure to please, written with heart, and tinges of humor. The main character, Aaron Miller was a true hero in every sense of the word, and I just loved him. There's romance, family, long-lost relationships, in Dan Walsh's newest release. This is not a book to be missed! I can't wait to see what Mr. Walsh comes up with next!

"Available September 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group."

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
