Editorial Reviews

Review

"Like most road trips, nothing goes as planned and, mixing it with three ex-best friends, it turns into an adventure worth reading."--SLJ

“Filmmaker Graham writes a road-trip tale that will entertain readers with its ridiculous circumstances and charismatic leading ladies. By turns silly, funny, a little moving, and unpredictable, this showcases Graham’s ability to capture an audience…Graham never drifts from the light, laughable wackiness of this wild trip. The trio offer a brilliant spectrum of experiences and differences, and teen readers will enjoy seeing this concoction of people and events head across the country.”

I loved the relationship between the girls; I loved how real everything felt.
Ashelynn Hetland
The story is told from each girl's perspective, and though each are unique and different, they flow together very well and their characterization is well-done.
The Compulsive Reader
The story line sounds so simple at times; a road trip to see a one time reunited boy band.
Chelsey Lynn

My Thoughts: A road trip to see a concert? With three ex best friends? Sounds like my kind of novel! Fun in the sun, I tell you!

We are thrust right into the story of Tiernan, Alice, and Summer. They used to be best friends, but something happened, and made them drift apart and start their own lives. Now they are back or reunited to go on a road trip after graduation to see their favorite band when they used to be friends. An event happened that basically turned them against each other, tragic!

Reunited was such a fun novel. We see each character's personality and how much they change over the course of the novel. They learn to accept each other, put the past in the past and finally try to overcome the obstacles they've been trying to desperately fight over the past few years. Each girl has her own problems she needs to get past rather it be boyfriend trouble, college trouble, or family trouble.

Reunited was so neat. I loved the parts where they were pushing The Pea Pod out of the mud or going swimming in the pool or stopping to eat and sleep. It was all so much fun.

I won't lie, usually I have to read a novel with some sort of romance in it. I like contemporary young adult romance books. I'm guilty of that. If it doesn't have a romance somewhere, I usually tend not to read it. Reunited really didn't much... Yes, a few boys were in the story but it wasn't about them. It was all about the girls. I really enjoyed Reunited and I never got bored with it. I laughed my way through most of it. It was a riot! And yes, it still had its learning moments as well.

Reunited was such a fun novel and I hope everyone reads it! This is one of those novels you should read this summer! Don't let it pass you by!

Overall: I really really liked it.

What a great read, only complaint , I wanted more of the characters and their adventures. Maybe a sequel? Or something else by this author?

When Alice, Summer, and Tiernan were in middle school, they were best friends. They'd spend hours in the Peapod, the old VW van in Alice's backyard, listening to Level3, their favorite band. But when Level3 broke up as they entered high school, so did their friendship. Now it's graduation and Level3 is getting together for a reunion concert 2000 miles away. Alice impulsively buys three tickets, and against all odds the three girls find themselves on a cross-country road trip in the Peapod. Can they repair their fractured friendship and make it to the concert in time?

Reunited is the perfect combination of fun, friendship, drama, and love. Hilary Weisman Graham's voice is fresh, funny, and very engaging. The story is told from each girl's perspective, and though each are unique and different, they flow together very well and their characterization is well-done. The secondary characters also are very vivid, from boyfriends to crushes to creepy encounters along the road. Though the girls are constantly moving across the country, the Peapod is a great setting for their travels--quirky and fun with a lot of great history and the cause of a few bumps along the road. While there is some romance, this book focuses mainly on the friendship between the three girls. There is a plenty of drama and a lot of issues to work through, but it doesn't feel trite. From flashbacks to their middle school years, their present-day awkwardness, and painful memories from when they fell apart, their relationship is explored inside-out. Their adventures on the road are hilarious and their antics a little crazy, but always entertaining and the ending is a little unexpected but perfect in every way. Reunited is full of great characters, great writing, great song lyrics--you will love this book.

What an absolutely cute and heartwarming book!! This story takes us, the readers, on a road trip with three girls who USED to be friends; weird, huh? Alice Miller finds out that her favorite boy band is getting back together for a one time reunion show, so why can't she and her two ex- best friends? Spontaneously she purchases $200 tickets to the one time concert in hopes that they will attend. Before she knows it Summer and Tiernan are riding alongside her in her newly refurbished van (that's another story in itself) on a road trip halfway across the country to see a band that they all drooled over when they were thirteen.

Alice, Summer, and Tiernan have each taken different paths throughout the course of their high school years and they have seldom spoken to each other since the Winter Dance in middle school. This story line shocked me a little because I was like how is Hilary going to write this so that this trip halfway across the country is not awkward and unnerving for the girls. She fits their individual stories and their personalities in like small puzzle pieces! Each girl brings something different to the table. One has a sassy side, and one just doesn't have a filter and will say anything at whim, while the other is Ms. Perfectionist! When all of their various personalities were jumping off of the page at me I was thinking how were you guys ever friends to begin with? The more I got to know them the more that I saw how much they really did appreciate the things that set each of them apart.

You may think it is strange for a friendship to form over a boy band, but theirs literally did. They were obsessed with the music and the boys and knew every song verbatim.
