5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource/tool for coping with educational law!
I had to buy this very expensive book for a course that I was taking to complete my school administrator's license. I was annoyed at the cost and the expense incurred for shipping such a heavy book to me (I live overseas). However, I have enjoyed every moment I have spent reading this insightful text. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's a TEXTBOOK, after all.
It's a thorough textbook on school law. The latest edition,to my knowledge.
It was required reading.
The only thing I can add, or advise is that is was a little late arriving, so I missed my reading assignments for the first class.
You may want to consider expedited shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource/tool for coping with educational law!, June 21, 2008
I had to buy this very expensive book for a course that I was taking to complete my school administrator's license. I was annoyed at the cost and the expense incurred for shipping such a heavy book to me (I live overseas). However, I have enjoyed every moment I have spent reading this insightful text. And, interestingly enough, the author of the text turned out to be the professor for the course I had to buy the book for. So, I got added insight from listening to him talk about the contents of the book. The only real drawback of this book is that due to the rapid pace of change in education, it has to be updated every year based on new court cases that surface each year. Thus, if you buy this year's version, you will miss out on next year's supplements. Regardless, if you are an educator, it's definitely worth its weight in gold. A fascinating read as well as an invaluable resource when setting school policy/practice!

If you are looking for the most comprehensive text in the field of education law, this is it. The author is one of the most respected experts in the field. This book covers every conceivable topic in areas such as school governance, teacher rights and responsibilities, and student rights. Edited versions of the leading court cases are included for those who wish or need to read the actual court documents. The editing of these cases is superb; material that is not necessary for a full understanding of the dispute and decision of the court has been excised so that the reader doesn't get bogged down with the "legal technicalities." Each chapter is written in an instructive style so the reader knows what the state of the law is. If the law is unsettled, the author points this out and explains why with examples.

Although the book is comprehensive, it is easy to read. One does not need a law degree or legal training to get through this tome. Further, to make it useful as a desk reference, it includes a detailed table of contents, a complete table of cases, and an extensive index. If you have a question on a particular topic you can find information easily by using these tools. The book also includes a fairly complete glossary.

The book may cost a bit, but it is worth it. If you are a school administrator or a student of education law, you really need this book. If you are a professor looking for a text, there are other options, but none better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educator and Psychologist, April 23, 2009
This review is from: Reutter's the Law of Public Education (University Casebook) (Hardcover)
The product was in excellent condition, although delivery took longer than the anticipated time. This book provides a brief synopsis of several ground-breaking court cases and their impact on public education. This is a valuable resource.
