Sincere, but overpriced (and one caveat),
By A Customer
This review is from: Reveal Your Glow . . . Brush Your Body Beautiful (Paperback)
This is an attractive book, but it only contains enough information to fill a magazine article. Within it's large print, wide margins and line spacing interspersed with drawings and duotone photos, the author's message boils down to this: Gently brush your dry body (excluding face) with a skin brush using motions that move toward the heart. Shower briefly in tepid water, dry off and moisturize. I strongly disagree with her recommendation to "buff" the body again after washing with a very coarse towel. That treatment is much too rough for wet skin (just as it's too rough for wet hair). It's also pointless because the dry brushing and showering removed the dead skin cells. The author herself makes the statement not to wet brush skin as "wet skin is much more sensitive to rubbing and brushing [than dry skin]", so why towel it roughly? Skin brushing is ancient. And wonderful. I've been doing it for years and I love the results. There isn't much information available on it, and on that count, this book has merit. But it is quite overpriced and offers some advice I felt to be flawed. You'd be better off spending your money on the skin brush (which costs about half what this book does). The brushes are available at most natural foods stores (including internet shops). I prefer the softer ones (Yerba Prima brushes can be quite stiff)

Brush Your Body Beautiful,
By A Customer
This review is from: Reveal Your Glow . . . Brush Your Body Beautiful (Paperback)
This book doesn't get to the heart of the matter until chapter 7, where one recipe is given for mixing oils. I would have liked more recipes. Then the actual body brushing program comes toward the end, maybe 4 pages. Everything else was mostly filler. However, I did like the part about combining Avocado with salts for exfoliation. More of this type of info would have faired better with me. Finding out all the little things my mom has done for her skin with baking soda was of interest to me, so in that regard it spawned me to ask questions of family members about skin care. I am going to continue with the Body Brushing and see what happens to my skin. But I must admit I felt a little taken regarding the cost. Perhaps if a brush or 2 was part of the deal I would have felt better.

Good Information but not enough for a whole book,

I was attracted to this book because of the graphics and typography (I'm a graphic designer). But, after slogging through the first 125 pages in which the author rhapsodizes about the wonderful benefits of body brushing (without explaining how to do it), I was rather peeved when she finally got down to the simple instructions on pages 127-135 (which was stretching it). Nevertheless, I went ahead and tried body brushing and, indeed, it is wonderful. However, it wasn't worth the book price to get this information. Go ask someone at your local health food store for information -- spend your $14.95 on some nice avocado oil and and a brush.

Reveal Your Glow...Brush Your Body Beautiful,

Body Brushing has been around for centuries. Although, there are valuable health benefits associated with body brushing this book made me feel, that the author was using it primarily as a self serving, profit seeking, marketing tool. It's simply written, compiling information from other sources, mixed with her own personalized routine. In a nutshell...It's all about circulation. Keep it simple. Buy a brush. Buy some oil.

Great skin care at a fraction of the cost!,

This is the first skin beauty regimen I've ever done that actually works, and I hate to think of the hundreds of dollars I've wasted in the past. My skin is baby soft and my friends are commenting. Now I'm buying copies for my friends for Christmas.

I wish she had more pictures, so we could get a better feel for what direction to brush. In the end she did explain and urged us not to fret about it. It's worth reading. I would check out YouTube too. Hopefully, Amazon will offer a really nice DVD version of body brushing. I also, wish she had more oil mixtures listed in the book. Would have been nice to learn how she feels about essential oils and what types to use.
