5.0 out of 5 stars The Best New Band in America
The Pat McGee Band is from Richmond, Virginia and has been playing together since 1996. Since that time, they have amassed a loyal following as the group has toured around the United States. This album "Revel" is their first as a group, and it has been rated highly by music critics across the country. Personally, I believe the Pat McGee Band is the most...

2.0 out of 5 stars Band with potential - Potentially bad album
After hearing such great things about this band from fellow Dave Matthews Band fans, I decided to give Revel a shot. I don't like it. I was expecting (from comparisons) to hear a combination of DMB and ekoostik hookah. They ended being a terribly cheesy pop band. The highlights, musically, come from members who are not even in the band (saxophones). PMB's lyrics have...

The Pat McGee Band is from Richmond, Virginia and has been playing together since 1996. Since that time, they have amassed a loyal following as the group has toured around the United States. This album "Revel" is their first as a group, and it has been rated highly by music critics across the country. Personally, I believe the Pat McGee Band is the most eclectic, fun, and rocking band that I have ever heard. It is almost impossible to make comparisons to another band, but they make music that anyone can listen and become addicted to. I have seen the band in concert dozens of times--an event that must be experienced to get the true feel of the band. I have collected over 180 hours of live concerts of PMB, and all are incredible listening experiences. PMB has just signed to Giant/WB Records, and will be putting out their first national release by the beginning of 2000. Good luck to an incredible band, and I hope you the reader are going to be part of this tremendous fan base that are "The Identities."

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely the BEST "unknown" Band and album in America, October 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Revel (Audio CD)
Destin to hit Top 40 charts in the coming years, The Pat Mcgee Band's album Revel is the best "unknown" work in music. The album combines accoustic rock with a powerful vocals by front man by Pat McGee. The band uses its harmony to bring a unique rock/pop style to its creative accoustics. The real "feeling" of The Pat Mcgee Band's music can easily be achieved in a live audience. The Pat McGee Band will definitely hit the charts with there new record contract and will make a name for themselves soon enough. An extremely hard album to find, get your copy now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just awesome!!, April 25, 2002

I heard Pat McGee Band for the first time in college, and have been in love ever since! This is the first album I owned, and while they are all great, it holds a special place in my heart! Pat McGee Band is one of the best-kept screts in the music business, and although I hope they get the success they deserve, some of us old fans selfishly would love to keep them to ourselves! This is great acoustic music with great songs and clever lyrics, and talented musicians- the best songs are "Passion," "Rebecca" and "Flooding the Both of Us." Buy it today, you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great chillin' CD, July 11, 2000
This review is from: Revel (Audio CD)
A buddy of mine got me into the Pat McGee Band. Give this CD a listens and you won't want to stop, especially if your mood is mellow. Perfect for the car trip, the boat, or just sitting around on the deck/patio.

Let's put it this way - I'm a fan of Buddy Guy, Phish, and a lot of classic rock n' roll and love this CD........well, my mother, who would prefer to listen to Barbara Streisand, Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, West Side Story, etc., etc., etc., also loves this CD. She was asking me, "who is this? ", so she could be the CD. Overall, the CD is very relaxing with some very catchy tunes.

My personal favorites are Passion, Rebecca(although the version on "From the Wood" is the best), All Around Us, Ceamelodic(the catchiest IMO), and On Your Way Out of Here. Give it a try!

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, January 10, 2000

So I heard PMB for the first time three years ago at Christmas time...I've been looking for the CD ever since - and I finally bought Revel - just as great as the first time, if not better. I fell in love with the music the first time, and it gets to me every time. I liked Dave Matthews when he was a local band - Pat McGee band, although they deserve their fame, is one of the best kept secrets! Pick it up, and youll know what I mean! ENJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, relaxing, unpretentious music, April 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Revel (Audio CD)
This guy knows what he does well, and that's what he does. It's good, catchy music with great acoustic guitar playing. Perfect relaxing music.

It's really just white preppy college music, but it's done very well. Pat doesn't try to be something he isn't.

Rebecca, Passion and All Around Us are real winners.

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific, August 15, 2003

This review is from: Revel (Audio CD)
i saw these guys live in the spring, and they were amazing, but sometimes that doesn't translate to studio recordings (note OAR's first 3 cd's, DMB's first however many cd's, etc.), but this recording captures some of their live prowess while still being clean and concise. great songs, great music...if you like VACO/OAR/DMB/Georgia Avenue/Dispatch, try this out

5.0 out of 5 stars Pat Mcgee Band---Keep an eye on these guys!, November 10, 1999

If you can't make it to see Pat live (I have seen him twice --Bucknell, and Penn State)--his discs are just as blazin'. Kick back, fire one up, and enjoy this sweet acoustic rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound. These guys are good!!!, July 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Revel (Audio CD)
This is by far the best CD I own. The Pat McGee Band has such an amazing, fresh, energetic and powerful sound. The CD is top quality: the music makes perfection look bad, the vocals are clean and smooth, and the lyrics pull it all together. I can't wait to hear more!!
