Book Description

Michael Raphael finds his sanity in question when his estranged daughter is abducted for use in a satanic ritual to prevent the Second Coming of Christ. During a bizarre, plot-twisting plunge into ancient myths, secret societies and modern day peril, Michael is guided by Nicholas Nevsky, a religious theologian living deep in the mountains of Bulgaria, who hides some secrets of his own.  Thrust into a world few realize exist, Michael is forced to face his mysterious past while enduring the vile underbelly of the darkest side of human existence. "Revelation" is the first in a trilogy of novels written by one of the most identifiable and creative authors of our time.  MJ Mancini has taken an age-old tale and crafted it into a modern thriller sure to titillate and satisfy.

From the Author

"Revelation" is the first book in a trilogy regarding the thrilling fictional account of the second coming of Christ.  The story, conceived between my wife and I, was an absolute pleasure to create.  I hope it entertains the reader as much as it did the author.  Happy reading and "Beware the Cavalieri di Satana!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting new "conspiracy type" thriller November 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this book a great deal and although I don't write "book report style reviews", I would like to explain why I would recommend it;
The writing style is easy to read and flows well, with a plot that moves swiftly and never plods or tires. There are no unnecessary sentences, which enables the reader to fly through the story on the edge of their seat.

Other authors have written similar story lines, but despite this, it felt very fresh and intriguing, and I remained gripped to the last page. The characterisation is excellent, and our hero Michael is very likable.

The hook into the second book is neat and completely realistic, without compromising the satisfaction of the end of the first. I will now look out for the second book.

There are a couple of points that could improve the overall reading experience. Good editing, and I'm not referring to changing text, but correcting the typos; A book this good, deserves finishing touches. Secondly, the book cover composition is creepy and gives a big clue to a major story line

5.0 out of 5 stars BY THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS November 23, 2012
By debndi7
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book vaguely is similar to the "Davinci code" by Dan Brown. If you enjoyed that book, this one will keep you flipping pages and you will be flying by the seat of your pants....The momentum didn't stop from the start.......I would have given this book 6 stars, but couldn't....also would have taken off 1/2 star cause the author sent me on a wild search looking for the next book in this trilogy, as he has already named the next two books and they are not as yet published.....Want to try a different genre than you normally would read...GET THIS ONE! You will be up reading till 4 in the morning with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Espresso anyone? December 7, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The journey is a fast-paced modern take on ancient theory. My favorite thing a writer can do? - Draw you in by evoking a multi-dimensional experience. Mancini does just that. Not only do his descriptive powers prevail when painting a visual for the reader (think elaborate depiction of physical surroundings - complete with aromatic inclusion). My personal favorite - when he directs his talent for such delicious phraseology toward coffee and wine lovers. Quite frankly, even if you aren't a fan of the dark, rich elixir (also known as espresso) - you may find yourself at the nearest gourmet cafe asking the barista to prepare you something rich and aromatic, then finding a nice corner to sip and read!

Mancini shines in the details, but that's not saying the bigger picture is illustrated with any less enthusiasm. The twists and turns of this truly unique adventure will keep you turning the pages...certainly worked for me, if not accompanied by my favorite brew, a good Malbec never disappointed as my reading I'm looking forward to the second course...

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Dan Brown like from the early days .. Gripping. November 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am not one for Revelation theories or stories, but wow.. upon recommendation I purchased this book and am utterly pleased with it.
This is definitely one of those books that you pick up to read and stay engaged with until you're finished. If you're a quick reader like me that'll be about 3 very heart pumping hours later.

Mr. Mancini has written a compelling story that brings us back to our basic instinctual values of protection. We get to see what an average man from New Jersey will do to protect his family and what results from that. There is a huge plot twist that I didn't see coming, which was delightful because I usually see them a mile away.

A huge bonus for Mr. Mancini is his keen ability to depict surroundings and ambiance through text, even down to how things smell. It never feels pedantic or trite it's just good imagery that will draw you in to the mystery.

I have to disagree with previous posters, and maybe the book has received a second editing, but I simply didn't see the grammatical errors that people are talking about.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Revelation" Will Have You on the Edge of Your Seat November 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading M.J. Mancini's “Revelation: Book One of the Revelation Trilogy," I can hardly wait for the next volume.

An outstanding writer who one-ups others who have plowed this ground many times before with a new twist that immediately takes this novel to another level. Indeed, if this were politics, Mancini's clever writing would make his candidate, “Revelation,” the clear leader in the race for top spot on the book market ballot.

Briefly, the novel uses the New Testament and some passages in quite an interesting way that, if it were not handled skillfully, could easily have crashed and burned. Instead of ending up a sophomoric tome with pretentious phrasing, Mancini clearly and forcefully presents his ideas.

His ideas seem so credible that you end up saying to yourself, “Why the h*** not?” when you have time to take a breather from his exciting story that keeps you on the edge of your seat right through the last page. As I turned the last page, in fact, I felt a major letdown as I wanted the story to go on.

The story presents one Michael Raphael, who represents a major theological figure, his friends, his wife Kalina, daughters Vixy and Jax, and the man who would become his mentor, Nevsky. Although all of the action seems to take place over a long period of time, it really takes place in about a week. In that week, though, Michael is hunted, shot at and wounded, beaten and blown up, yet he survives and heals way too quickly! Why does that happen? You might say the author makes Michael do that – but he has his reasons.

Michael and Nevsky are chased around by some very unsavory and dangerous characters who think nothing of snuffing people out with no remorse. They are the epitome of evil.
