5.0 out of 5 stars Varied and Enjoyable
David's latest solo album is so varied it's hard to know what category to put it in. But no matter how you describe it, it's thoroughly enjoyable.

The disc opens with three adult contemporary tracks. The first is a fun praise song, and the second is a dedication of the heart to God. They're fun, but mostly forgettable.

I really enjoy David Phelps when he sings without all the theatrics. He really has a lovely voice. I particularly like his operatic renditions. I purchased 2 of his cd's, and was a little disappointed.

This cd was not as good as I had hoped for - some good, some awful

David's latest solo album is so varied it's hard to know what category to put it in. But no matter how you describe it, it's thoroughly enjoyable.

The disc opens with three adult contemporary tracks. The first is a fun praise song, and the second is a dedication of the heart to God. They're fun, but mostly forgettable.

It's track four where things really start to pick up. "Just as I Am" is not the old hymn although it does cover the same territory. Co-written with Cindy Morgan, it's got a haunting minor key melody.

"Revelation" sounds like it would fit in any rock opera being written today. You have to pay attention to this take on end times to fully appreciate it.

"Virtuoso" is another praise song, from the singer to the Creator. It's a wonderful track with a catchy tune that gives David the chance to show of his very impressive voice. And don't be fooled by the word "Reprise." The last track is a slower more thoughtful version of this song, but it's all there a second time.

"Perdoname Dios" has, unsurprisingly, a Latin flavor. It's a prayer from the valley asking God why.

The disc ends with the ballad "Live Like a King." David gets another chance to really show of his vocals here as he sings of his desire to live the way Jesus did.

Even with the variety of styles, this will appeal mostly to fans of adult contemporary. Anyone who picks it up will be in for a real treat.

I've had the wonderful blessing of attending one of David's concerts. My 76 yr old Mother and I both agree -- there can't be an angel in heaven who sings better than David Phelps! God definitely blessed this young man -- not only with an awesome voice -- but with the humble, loving gift of sharing the gospel of Jesus with everyone and anyone.
He could be making money hand over fist in the secular world of music -- but, instead, is using his God-given talent for God. What a combination!! We are going to see him in concert in a few weeks -- again. We traveled 6 1/2 hrs -- one way -- to see him in concert last year!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 3 song set, September 9, 2004

The first time I listened to the CD I was expecting to hear some great songs along the line of the Gaither Homecoming genre. At first I was disappointed...but after listening thru the second time I realized this may be the greatest CD I've heard in years! When I got to the fourth song "Just As I Am", I got to hear a fantastic song by a great vocalist. The next song "Revelation" is possibly one of the best 4 minute explanations of the Second Coming that there is. Simply an AWESOME song. The last song in this trio "Virtuoso" is dynamite. What a tribute from this vocalist to his Lord. I don't know David, but the words to this song must be the way he feels about his service to the King.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!!, April 1, 2004

David's voice blows me away! Im shocked that his name isnt all over the music world like Josh Groban's and Michael Crawford's. What impresses me is how he can reproduce his phenomenal vocals in live situations such as the concerts I have seen him in. Its just like the CD - only better. Folks, this man is the real deal...incredible talent and vocal training with laser-guided pitch and swiss-watch dynamic precision. He blows me away!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWSOME!!!!, July 24, 2004
This review is from: Revelation (Audio CD)
I love this CD. I think it is hard for an artist as wonderful as David to keep doing it, but he does. This CD is just as good as his last one. There are more up beat traks on this then the last, and it keeps you going all day. I personally can't stop listening to it. I LOVE IT!! If you like christian music at all then you will definatly love this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Could Have Knocked Me Over With A Feather, June 2, 2004

No one hits a high note like David. This guy is amazing. I cant believe what he can do with his voice. Absolutely stunning. I first heard him on TV and quickly went online to learn more. I have this album and his EXCELLENT Christmas album with the Millar Brass Orchestra titled "Joy Joy." I think the latter is his finest album - but this one is great, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, June 17, 2006
This review is from: Revelation (Audio CD)
David Phelps, you have a God-given talent! This album showcases that talent, especially in the songs "Virtuoso" and "Just as I am". The message in this album is as strong as his powerful tenor voice. It is most evident in the song "Arm Open Wide". Many times I have made the argument that David has the best tenor voice short of heaven. I take this album as proof (just listen to it)! As I said, David has a God-given talent. I am glad that he gives the credit to the right person.

5.0 out of 5 stars unbelievable!, August 24, 2005
This review is from: Revelation (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the most riveting Christian CD's I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. David Phelph's has one of the strongest, most beautiful male voices i have ever heard. I had the pleasure of seeing his concert about a month ago and was so happy to witness that he is just as wonderful live as he is on his records.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do not listen while driving!!!!, August 5, 2004
This review is from: Revelation (Audio CD)
David's powerful voice and amazing note holding could be dangerous while driving. He will make you want to shout and thump your foot uncontrollably. "Revelation", the title song is best played with increasing volume until the refrain is rattleing the windows, hence the danger to close by motorists. Buy it, Bose it and Believe it!!!!!
