4th album from Vermont native Dean Wells, now a duo with Matt LeMay of Get Him Eat Him; thisis medium/lo-fi F.I.Y. pop/punk that has seriously upgraded the melodic content & production values since the first three releases. Short, sweetly terse little hard-edged pop songs that pound the melody into your humming, head-bopping center. Recalls bands like Guided By Voices, Television Personalities, early Green Day, White Wires.

It is pretty simple. If you like GBV's pop songs then check out The Capstan Shafts. Not that the sound is derivative but if you like the one I think you'll like (or love) the other. This particular album sounds like it came out of a studio. The others out of a bedroom. But they are all fantastic. My absolute favorite music discovery of 2010.
