Firstly, I regard the Tyndale set of commentaries to be excellent for the Christian layman. IVP is an excellent publisher and Leon Morris is as sound as you can get. I could sum up Leon Morris, by saying that no one goes to hell by reading Leon Morris. Just as in the old days a purchaser did not lose his job by buying an IBM.

I warmly commend Leon Morris to you. He will not tie you up in knots like the speculative nonsense that surrounds Revelation today.

I regard him highly as a commentator. I have the second (1987) edition on Revelation. As usual Leon Morris has given us a competent commentary. He correctly focuses on the Church rather than Israel, e.g. the 144,000 and the Two Witnesses (are the Church). He is amillennial on chapter 20.

The book is rather dated in the light of the many excellent commentaries published since 1987; however it will still serve as a good starter on Revelation.

Other starter commentaries would be Koester Revelation and the End of All Things_ and Hendriksen More Than Conquerors: An Interpretation of the Book of Revelation.

Leon Lamb Morris (15 March 1914 -- 24 July 2006) was an Australian New Testament scholar. Leon I miss you.

Rev 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!"

We were looking for more about Revelations that could be used both as a good companion helping to better understand the material and as a guide for additional study if/when we wish to pursue it further. We found it with this excellent commentary by Leon Morris. Morris provides a very accessible, easy read that walks the reader through Revelations with an overview of the various commentaries and explanations of how to apply them in reading this Scripture.
This commentary is part of the Tyndale New Testament series of Commentaries. We were pleased enough with this commentary that we are getting other books in the series as our study of individual books of the Bible progresses.

This is one of the best commentaries on Revelation. Morris brings a sound understanding of the book, avoiding unnecessary speculations. A good reading.
This book is a good commentary for pastors, serious bible students and theologians.

The book is not reader friendly and has a very conservative interpretation. It's not really what I was hoping for.
