Christian Mysticism And Metaphysics,

This review is from: Revelations of Things to Come (Astara's library of mystical classics) (Paperback)
This book combines what I guess would be called 'new age' ideas with Christian and religious ideas.Probably the main idea is the human race's spiritual relationship with the earth, the constellations of the zodiac, and the entire universe really. Earlyne Chaney believed that she had been initiated into the Egyptian mysteries thousands of years ago. Then when she was reincarnated in the 20th century she travelled to Egypt and got permission to go into the Great Pyramid after hours. During that experience she had a vision of the goddess Isis who was then transformed into the Virgin Mary of the Catholic Church. At that point she realized that Isis and Mary are the same being which is interesting because according to Egyptian mythology Isis gave birth to Horus under supernatural circumstances. Those memories and visions gave Earlyne a unique combination of beliefs. Some of the more unusual ideas in the book are: 1) the sun's rays are going through some sort of gradual transformation which is in turn transforming our human blood and the human body 2) there's an entire civilization inside the earth (the 'Inner Earth'). this civilization has its own oceans and it might be possible for a ship at sea to fall down into this other world by accident. the higher beings retreated into the inner earth before the biblical flood which destroyed Atlantis. 3) currently our human senses can only perceive matter in three forms (solid, liquid, gas) but there are four higher forms of matter. there is a 'city' called Shamballa in the Gobi desert that is made of those other exotic forms of matter so we can't see it. tunnels lead from Shamballa down into the inner earth civilization. 4) she talks about many other fascinating subjects related to the Great Pyramid, the underground tunnels in Egypt, and the possibility that the god Thoth and other gods are entombed in Egypt even now in a state of high tech suspended animation. As the title implies it talks a lot about what could happen in the future. Will there a a nuclear holocaust ? A pole shift ? These are only possible futures she says. A few chapters are devoted to the various (alleged) appearances of the Virgin Mary throughout history. As far as I know the Church has only accepted the Marian visions at Fatima and Lourdes. The Catholic Church, though often maligned, doesn't blindly believe everyone who says they have seen the Virgin Mary walking around on top of a building and that they are receiving messages from her. There is I would say an 'anti religious' tone to some of the information in this book. Someone like Earlyne Chaney, who I believe can be called a 'mystic', may at times have trouble relating to the conventions and traditions of organized religions, as much as she tried. She was perhaps longing for those long lost days of ancient Egypt when religion was a way of life for many and the priestly class had a much more advanced understanding of the mysteries of nature than we do now. My copy of this book is falling apart but it has been autographed by Earlyne so I will want to save it. Apparently Earlyne was a movie star at one time. It would be fascinating to see one of her films.
