More About the Author

Melinda Metz grew up in San Jose, California. People sometimes ask if she knows the way there. She kinda does, but she has an off-kilter sense of direction, so to be confident of arriving, it's better to consult some kind of navigational device.

Her mother tried to teach her to read in kindergarten, but Melinda had no interest. She also had no interest in learning to write her name. (FYI, when Melinda was in kindergarten it was all about finger-painting, play time, and naps.) Eventually, she mastered both and even majored in English at San Jose State University.

After college, Melinda moved to Manhattan to seek her fortune, which involved learning to identify fruits and vegetables while working at a grocery store,
making $2.73 working backstage for an off-off Broadway play (her part of the box-office profits), and editing books.

Melinda and the lovely and talented Laura J. Burns pretty much became unofficial writing partners when they were editors at the same company. They teamed up to brainstorm story ideas, and at some point their brains fused in some key places. Later they worked on the Roswell High book series, Laura developing and editing the series, Melinda writing.

That series led to Melinda and Laura, now an official writing team, writing two TV pilots, moving to L.A. to work on the Roswell TV show, and briefly living in Toronto while on the writing staff of 1-800-Missing. They both continue to write books, together and separately.

Melinda has never regretted learning to read and write her name.

5.0 out of 5 stars The thrilling sixth book in the Fingerprints series., December 18, 2001
This review is from: Revelations (Fingerprints, Book 6) (Paperback)
Rae thinks she's safe. Steve Mercer, who wanted to kill her because he felt her powers were a threat to the world, is dead. Now, Rae's trying to rebuild the life she had before she was hospitalized. She's gotten back together with her old boyfriend, Marcus, and is beginning to hope she might repair her friendship with Lea someday. Then Yana asks Rae for help. Rae wants nothing to do with the person who betrayed her, who got together with Anthony behind Rae's back in a twisted quest for revenge. But Yana's desperate. Her father is trying to prove Yana's mentally unstable so he can get her sent to a mental hospital, where she'll be out of the way. Rae would do anything to keep a sane person from being brought to the place where she suffered so, even Yana, who is her worst enemy. Then Anthony discovers there's still someone out there who wants revenge on Rae. And little does Rae know she might be walking right into a trap. I highly recommend this thrilling book from the Fingerprints series. It's one of the best, and is truly full of amazing revelations.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LUV THIS SERIES!, December 30, 2001
By
This review is from: Revelations (Fingerprints, Book 6) (Paperback)
I got htis book on thursday and it is now sunday. I have already finished it and am now once again waiting fir the next book. This is probely one of the best books of the series! And it is the most interesting book that i have ever read. In this book it takes a breath taking turn at the end that you don't want to put it down cause you want to find out what happens! If you have read all the other ones don't stop readin them now. And if you haven't read them yet you deffinatley should. This is a very intresting series and I recomend it to who ever likes mystery or suspense novels or series. I am hoping that #7 isn't the last book because I don'r want the series to end. Right now I have tried to find out but haven't yet. If i could email melinda then i would tell her that I love her series and that she has an incredible imagination.

I RECOMEND THIS TO EVERYONE! IT IS THE BEST BOOK EVER! AND I LOVE THE CHARACTERS! THE BOOK BECOMES MY OWN WORLD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Revelations-Great Book, December 25, 2001
By
Suzanne (Sydney, Australia (I'm just living here for a few months)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Revelations (Fingerprints, Book 6) (Paperback)
I totally loved this book. OK, Rae thinks her life is back to normal, but then posters about her mother and her supposed "murder" show up all over school. People think she's nuts and Rae is starting to think so too because the person who is out to ruin her life is putting thoughts into her head. When her friend, Yana, pleas for Rae to help her because her father wants to put her in a mental hospital, Rae gives in and finds out that, by using her power of reading thoughts in fingerprints, Yana's father really DOES want her in a mental hospital. While helping Yana, she is kidnapped and forced to cut herself many times with a sharp knife and Anothony has been thought implanted by the psyco and is forced to try to feed Rae rat poison. Will Rae get out of another tight jam or will this be her final end? Find out in the suspencingly awesome book of REVELATIONS.
Even when this book is over, you will STILL want to keep reading to find out what happens next!
