I've had the good fortune to have a pre-release copy of this record for a few weeks now...I've had time to listen, reflect, chew on it a bit if you will...Previous to this album, I thought Scott's strongest release was Angels in Exile or Dark of the Night...no longer...this album really captures the essence of Scott Holt...The songwriting is his strongest yet and his...

I've had the good fortune to have a pre-release copy of this record for a few weeks now...I've had time to listen, reflect, chew on it a bit if you will...Previous to this album, I thought Scott's strongest release was Angels in Exile or Dark of the Night...no longer...this album really captures the essence of Scott Holt...The songwriting is his strongest yet and his voice only gets better with time. His guitar playing is a tour de force of a style I have come to associate with him, "edge of your seat" blues rock...he'll take the song to the top of the cliff, dangle it over the edge, and barely bring it back again, leaving you exhausted...Highlights for me include "Civil War" (amazing song), "Bad Way Baby", "Sunday", "Give Up Drinking", and "Bout to Make Me Leave Home"...oh heck, the whole album is great! Buy the album and then go see Scott live...he's an amazing performer and showman. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic, January 25, 2006
This review is from: Revelator (Audio CD)
I have listened to this album many times, and it gets better each time. As I understand it from scottholt.com this album was cut in just a few hours, so each song is basically 'live'. My favorite album by Scott was Dark of the Night, but this album has definitely surpassed that. Make sure that you go see him if he is in your neighborhood, for he puts on a great show (I saw him in Hood River, Oregon in Feb. 2005). I loved his work when he was playing with Buddy Guy, and I love his solo work. Just an outstanding, emotional guitar player.

Scott Holt is a true artist, this release really puts his foot print on the map. If Scott comes to your town be sure to see the show. His CD is great and once you see the live show you will be hooked! So put on your seatbelt and prepare for take off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent CD from Scott, May 16, 2007

Although not every track on this CD is an out and out winner, they're all good enough and with some truly memorable tracks such as Civil War, Bad Way Baby, Cut You Loose and Power of your Love (slow tempo Marty Balinesque tune that builds to a beautiful solo), I have to give it 5 stars. All of Scott's CDs are fine for you blues/rock fans and this one is no exception.
