This review is from: Revell 1:72 Rb-36H Peacemaker (Toy)
At the time it was first introduced, this kit was the world's largest, as was its subject, and is presented here as a reconnaisance variant (hence RB) of the basic B36-H. Parts for a vanilla bomber are also provided, and it can be assembled with wheels up or down and with bomb bay doors open or closed. A large number of tiny bombs and a pair of bomb racks are also supplied. The top and bottom retractable remote-controlled cannons are NOT provided, and the turret covers are moulded in the closed position. All the gun sights are provided with transparent sighting windows, but only the four crew members in the top cockpit are supplied.
To begin with one has to come to terms with sheer size of the kit, which was delivered coccooned in paper in a carton measuring 1 1/2 feet wide by 3 feet in length. Expect to make a substantial investment in postage if you don't qualify for free shipping. Unpacked, the kit occupied the better part of a two-seater sofa in my office, and complicated my trip down to the basement car park. The parts appear to fit together accurately, except perhaps for the bomb bay doors which were a little loose when assembled in the closed position. All the pieces were in the box, although there were a few cracked propellor blades - but no major damage from the trip. With the benefit of hindsight, every serious modeller (and with THIS baby, you better be serious!) should beg, steal or borrow a copy of B-36 Peacemaker in detail & scale - D&S Vol. 47 before opening the box. If you decide to use aluminum foil instead of paint for the bare metal sections of the plane, remember that the areas marked 'silver' should be finished in shiny foil (polished aluminum on the real plane), the areas marked 'polished aluminum' in something duller, such as polished aluminum metalcote paint (dull magnesium alloy on the real thing) and the areas marked 'matt aluminum' can be the dull side of the foil or matt aluminum paint. You will need 1/32" black tape Tape, Single,Vinyl Black Matte, 1/32" x 603" or decal stripes to mark the wing walkways, as this is not included in the kit (the instructions specify aftermarket decals cut to size). When completing the cockpit, it is useful to start with the flight engineer's station and work forwards to the main instrument panel to avoid running out of room for the crew figures' feet. Remember NOT to glue the engines to the wing when assembling the wing halves so that they align themselves correctly. The same applies to the main wing spar when putting the fuselage halves together. I used 1/32 silver adhesive tape Tape, Single, Metallic, Silver, 1/32" x 603" for the cockpit canopy and bomb aiming window (which needed a little filing to fit correctly) - you may need to use little dabs of clear glue to hold the tape down on the sharp curves. Dunk it in Kleer or SC Johnson #11182 27OZ Pledge FutureShine to finish. The tail decals are huge and tend to tear if not handled carefully. Stick the smaller half on the rudder first as it has a cutout for the hinge and needs to be positioned exactly right. All the decals seemed to stick more to fingers and tools than to the model surface, so special care is needed. You can leave the wings unglued for easy storage, as the large spar holds them in place when required. The wingspan is around 38 inches and the fuselage length is 28 inches. A small clear support is provided to keep the tail off the ground.

Fantastic model!!!!
We are 100% through this model. We did the wheels up, bomb bay door open, and bombs a dropping version. This is another fine model hanging off of my son's ceiling. For those with big hands and challenging eye sight, get this!

It was very fun to put together and it was worth the money. you need to put some filler in the nose area so the nose dome fits properly. It has some delicate parts such as the nose and tail guns so i recommend using some balsa wood and masking tape to make a splint for them while assembling. this was a great buy and worth everey cent.
