Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The galleon appeared on the early morning horizon, off the port, bearing down on us from out of the blood-red sunrise. At first, we mistook her for another merchant ship, traveling home from Jamaica or the Bahamas, heavy with cargo. But no, she was moving too fast. As she approached, she dropped her main sail to reveal the skull and crossbones. We went hard to starboard, full speed. praying she would not catch us" and that was the last entry in the journal found floating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Ship to Build, September 13, 2011
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Revell 1:72 Caribbean Pirate Ship (Toy)
Length:: 3:03 Mins

This is an old model. My research reveals that this model was made in the 1960's for the cartoon movie Peter Pan. Revell has simply repackaged this classic kit to reflect the more recent pirate movies out in theatres. It's funny to know that the pirate ships in these recent movies look very similar to this model. This kit was targeted for kids to build and enjoy.

This is a good kit to build. When I found out about the history of this kit, I thought that the model will be unrealistic and look cartoon like. Although it is cartoon like in appearance, the model definitely looks realistic. The cannons, decks, masts, and hand rails are well detailed, even for a model of this vintage. Since this is an older model, there are a lot of mold lines, seams, and voids that needs to be dealt with but none of these flaws ruined my fun building it. It's not too complex to build.

I haven't built models in a while, and as such, had to start getting new supplies. Had I known it was more difficult to find the necessary paints before the purchase, I would have purchased those as well. Quick shipping was nice. Seller had sufficient communication and information included with the purchased items.Revell 1:96 Caribbean Pirate Ship

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Build, January 6, 2012
This review is from: Revell 1:72 Caribbean Pirate Ship (Toy)
When I was in and out of the VA hospital system a few year back and needed something to do while I was in the hospital, the VA provided models. They were usually just snap togethers but it got me hooked and this little ship was one of the very first models I bought and put together.
I had almost no skill when it came to doing models but I had an easy time doing this one. I didn't have any problems with small parts and I'm a big guy where little things can get lost in my hands. I've learned a thing or two about model making since I made this ship and could do a better job doing it now. I feel that you could sit down with a kid and do this model together (probably 10+) and have a nice little weekend bounding experience over it.
