This review is from: Revell 1:72 X-15 Experimental Aircraft (Toy)
The X-15 is one of the best experimental aircraft in the aviation history. The kit is accurate an easy to built, a good choice for any collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Found! The perfect kit for a raw beginner, July 12, 2008

This review is from: Revell 1:72 X-15 Experimental Aircraft (Toy)
My fascination for all-black aircraft began with the historic X-15.
After spending years super-detailing the basic kit, it finally dawned on me that Revell's X-15 was the ideal beginner's kit. It's all here: a historic aircraft, a futuristic spaceplane, sinister-looking, burned into the psyches of generations of modelers - and most important of all - simple to build.

Ninety percent of the model is basically built just by gluing the upper and lower fuselage halves together. There is a prominent seam that requires filling and sanding, along the nose; this kit I believe is great training for pride modelling, going the extra mile for a finished model.

This Revell pressing is nearly fifty years old, and the decal set you get
covers either serial number 66670 or 66671, not both. New to this latest
molding are the ventral fuel tanks, fodder for super-detailing, the reason I picked up the umpteenth X-15 in my collection.

A perfect companion to the kit is the book: Hypersonic!, reviewed elsewhere by me. This book will give you reason to build several X-15's, including the longer A-2 version.

New to modelling? Start with the Revell X-15!
